Palatin Technologies, Inc. (AMEX:PTN)

Another one of my long-shot micro picks that nearly doubled before nearly trapping me in a losing score due to the big plunge. Fortunately I jumped ship just in time and now I'm back in, no doubt too early. Palatin kept their word to begin patient enrollment in the phase IIb trial of subcutaneous bremelanotide in FSD by the end of Q2, and now an anti-obesity compound generated by an earlier collaboration with AstraZeneca has entered clinical trials. Palatin's valuation looks good with about 20M in cash supporting a market cap of 25M, but the problem as always is cash. With results not expected until H2 2012 at the earliest, Palatin will certainly sell more shares prior to topline data. The question is what happens to their share price as the trial enrolls. If the run-up doesn't start before the cash runs out, they could be in trouble.

An injectable ED Drug? Yeah I don't think that's going to work.

No where to go but up. A lot of competition in this product area, but the pie is very large and growing daily. The Baby Boomers have arrived!

Sex sells

If Palatin get approval for bremelanotide the stock will take off. This product will be for ED and "libido"

if it pertains to sexual contents itmust go up

This company is still working on getting a good product to market, but PT-141 shows promise. They also have 3 other drugs in development that haven't gotten to phase 1 trials yet.

Even if PT-141 isn't a smash hit, this company could be an attractive buyout target for a larger pharma company needing to freshen up its pipeline.

Given that Palatin is trading slightly up from its 52-week low, I'd take this as a good opportunity to buy a company that in 5 years could grow into a real contender.

Relatively safe drug, all its needs is FDA approval and its the only company in a multi billion dollar market

Interesting Biotech. Just a crapshoot

ED with positive affects for Females may be an hugh upside.

Company developing Melanocortin based drugs for female sexual dysfunction. Speculative at this time. I feel the stock is under valued at this time. I see that as these drugs are developed and brought out the company will be acquired by a larger compainy.

Huge potential market, if they get FDA approval..

Palatin specializes in melanocorticotropin receptor drugs and has a unique way of identifying protein structures that might be useful medically (MIDAS). They have Bremelanotide in phase III currently. Despite some side effects reports that caused stock to fall this medication will probably pass the FDA approval process and will become the first documented female aphrodisiac with FDA approval. With boomers aging and sexual drive dropping there is a huge potential market for this medication.

Shakey company being kept afloat by a potentially blockbuster product. They have had some trouble with clinical trials and have been in phase 2 for several years but I expect it to eventually come to market. Who knows what kind of position the company will be in to capitalize at that point but the stock should go up some.

badly beaten up pharma making a GREAT product soon.

This is totally crazy! The drug they have in testing to increase/create sexual desire has been tested at a university near where I live. The results have been very positive. Even if this is all some kind of hype as it gets closer to release, the buzz will do it all. At its current price it is almost a throw away but has lots of upside potential.Totally media driven.

Annuounced results of a Phase 2 study on a nasal spray for the "female viagra". The drug positively impacts physical genital arousal, sexual desire, and sexual frequency. The potential post menopausal market is very large and growing and will, like Viagra inevitablly find wide use beyond FSAD. Very small company, but I believe that as more results come in this can be a multi bagger. Below is excerpt of early results.

Part 2 of a Phase IIa pilot study evaluating the effects of bremelanotide in post-menopausal women diagnosed with female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD). Results showed that on a 14-item questionnaire, 73 percent of the women reported an increased level of genital arousal while on bremelanotide compared with 23 percent of women on placebo. Also, 46 percent of women on bremelanotide reported an increased level of sexual desire while only 19 percent of women responded similarly after placebo treatment. Additionally, subjects receiving bremelanotide reported a higher incidence of engaging in sexual activity compared to placebo.
