Tom Konrad pick for best alt energy ETF
Recs
Clean tech is the wave of the present and future. I love the long term growth possibilities for this ETF.
Recs
hard to remember why I picked this one on 5/13/08
Probably cause Oil prices were high and I wanted to research this ETF as an alt-e play
for future reference the holdings actually appear to be more of a socially responsible type than purely "green"

ETF for "green" investing
Recs
I think that Alternative Energy will only become more popular as Oil Peak and Global Warming affect our energy supply choices. ETFs are a good way to add diversity while minimizing fees. So I'm snapping up a few Alt Energy focused ETFs with high outperform ratings while they are near their 52 week lows and I'll ride them into our, hopefully much greener future!

Companies in 11 different sectors that reduce negative ecological impact and improve responsible use of natural resources. Includes alternative energy, materials, agriculture, transportation, and water.

Seems to have hit a low earlier this month. Time now to open up. New administation going direction of alternatives, so infrastructure should build and follow through, especially on green techs.
Recs
The green technology industry will enjoy a boom in the coming years while the government invests more money in the necessary infrastructure to make these technologies economically feasible.
Recs
Much more capital investiment will be moved into this sector over the next several years out of necessity.

Even if Oil & Gas correct, people won't soon forget $4/gallon gas, and will still be looking for alternates.

This is honor of earth day I will not only go green ,but I will also invest green. PZD track all of the top companies in the cleantech index. Not the up incoming companies or companies that think that they are green, but the companies that will have the staying power and are basically best of breed.

We are all seeing a move towards reducing the greenhouse gas emissions, and the US likely will begin a cap-and-trade system with the next administration (all three remaining candidates support it). This index includes companies involved in the alternative energy sector (e.g. FSLR, SPWR, STP) as well as companies that through their techniques or services aim to reduce pollution, energy waste and emissions and technology that is clean and healthy (e.g. MATK, a biotech company that develops a fatty acid that is used for infant formula, helps babies develop). This ETF is a great way to participate in this broad sector. The price has declined in the last 3 months, but it has still outperformed the S&P in the same period. And before the turmoil in the markets in January, it had beat the S&P handsomely in the previous year, its price gaining ~40% from January to December.

Transformations: global businesses around the world will invest in energy productivity in order to relieve the strain on the world economy and the environment. Cleaner energy will allow us to save hundreds of billions of dollars. Annie Leonard says we are consuming the world's resources at an unsustainable rate and I believe that businesses will need to do something about it.
