With better ingredients, Papa John's is making a name for themselves as having quality pizza and a quality brand. With still a lot of room left to run, PZZA is a long term outperform winner, as long as the CEO stays put, and they don't compromise the taste of the pizza for corporate or shareholder gains. Cutting costs to boost profits is not an option here. If the pizza goes bad, so will the stock. Hold for 3 years and reevaluate the public views about the pizza (whether it still tastes good or not).

Short. Great company, but I think the stock is overvalued after the massive run its had since late 2008. From about $5 to over $70. At 7% revenue growth, perhaps a 25x ttm earnings multiple is too pricey. Additionally my guess is that with an improving economy at some point fast food and pizza sales experience some pressure as consumers pay up for other food.

Pizza is inexpensive food. Pizza business may be booming because it is healthier than burgers, and it is relatively inexpensive (good for weak economic times). Papa John's deals are a hit.

I saw that Papa John's just had a class action lawsuit with potential damages over $250m. It was certified by a federal court which means that it's for real and not just frivolous or without merit. When I bought this stock I, of course, read the 10K and saw no mention of this case as a potential threat. Obviously PZZA execs knew this was coming. Lame.

I love Papa John's. I get pizza from there often enough that the owner knows me. It winds up being a cheap, lazy night of no cooking. I confess that I never pay full price. They are constantly running specials. The current special, that applies in my area anyway, is that whenever the New York Yankees win and score at least six runs you get any large pizza with as many toppings as you want for $10.00 or $11.00, I forget exactly what the price is. Most of my garden is in, so therefore I will soon be able to make fresh pizza with my own garden vegetables, but this is a great winter and spring substitute.

I like the increasing international growth, focus on customer satisfaction, and variety in build-your-own pies online or on the phone.

This might not be the best reason, but I hate Pappa John's Pizza. I can't support buying a stock of a company whose product I cannot stand.

Value - too cheap @ $23/share. Great ROIC and ROE, as well as a great brand and very good product.
