I think the medical services are going to make a lot of money in the coming years, thanks in large part to the "baby boomers". QSII is in good position to capitalize on it, and I think it has a pretty good management team leading them in the right direction.

Now that the board room contentions are apparently quelled, they can return to their focus on customers and shareholders. Their market niche holds exciting potential. Medical and dental practices will enjoy improved operational efficiency, while the increased accuracy and permanency of patient records is good for everone. Win - win - win!

Still need to resolve the price issue for smaller offices in rural areas. I have a family member who is getting doctors offices on line to local hospitals in the area. Price is an issue.

Hot arena ad they are emerging as a leader at a cost savings and integrated player for hospitals to take advantage of. Cost savings through synergies with acquired companies only means better margins and more growth.

As pessimistic as I am about the economy, I just can't see the demand for health care evaporating. This stock has been a consistent long-term solid performer and should be able to ride out a few bumps that may be in the road ahead.

The recent drop in price also makes for a nice entry point.

The RAND Corporation, a leading health care think tank, estimates the industry could save $162 billion per year through the simple IT upgrades. Switching records from a paper-based system to an electronic one and using bar coding and tracking software will save hospitals time and money, which will also lead to increased efficiency.

And the only way to make these changes is to put more money into health care IT. Last year, health care IT spending by doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, insurers, and the U.S. government totaled about $20 billion. So Obama's $50 billion plan is a significant boost.

Even accounting for a decrease in IT expenditures due to the recession, Obama's plan is enough to drive revenue and earnings to new heights for the sector.

This stock is attractively valued at approximately $33.50 per share. Earnings and revenue growth remain strong, and it looks like the company is serious about going after the smaller ambulatory (physician office) marketplace. In the meantime, they're sitting on a tremendous amount of cash that affords them the luxury of executing long term strategies and an impressive 3% annual dividend.

Forward P/E of around 19 - that's a level we haven't seen in a long time. Note that the company does not provide earnings guidance. In latest quarter, they met earnings per share concensus but missed on revenue. That's actually a good thing, given that the company is resisting pressure to hit revenue numbers by selling lots of low margin hardware.

It's cash heavy with little or no debt, & the only thing acting as a negative recently is the board of directors fight, which presumably should be settled soon.
