As much as I love the rails I have to give these guys my first underperform for this sector. Since they deal primarily in passenger service type cars, and passenger rail service is basically on the decline right now, I can't see any major prefromance increases for the time being. But I do think that they will bounce back as the railroad industry begins its' eventual climb upwards.

A beat up value play.

Analysts and CAPS members are optimistic about this stock and for good reasons. This rail car manufacturer will soon benefit from Obama's stimulus plan and international demand for rail cars is on the increase. This stock should be over $20 per share by this years end.

Has been through a rough patch, but 11/20/08 settlement of lawsuit removes largest risk factor. Good debt ratio, recent stock buyback also improve RAIL's position. Sales should grow as oil prices rebound, increasing the demand for low-cost bulk transportation.

Transportation getting very expensive as fuel prices rise. Not to mention that with the price of labor rising in China, Korea, and elsewhere, it is becoming more cost effective to manufacture in Mexico, and rail is one of the main ways to transport goods in and out of our neighbor to the South.
