REED is a natural soft drink and specialty health drink maker that occupies a unique retail niche featuring the curative powers of ginger spice and assorted specialty brewed non-alcoholic drinks. Acquisition of Virgil's Root Beer, reinvigorated marketing plans and a growing trend in the general population to choose comestible products without additives and chemicals has pushed sales in 2012. Reed's beverages are a mainstay on health food stores and Whole Foods shelves and I expect the company to benefit from this store's expansion. Additionally, the company has recently rolled out its REED'S Culture Club – Kombucha, a version of the popular brewed health drink purported to have important healing powers (and often suggested by Dr. Oz to increase metabolism). Reed's recently introduced Kombucha appears to be very popular and is rapidly moving off store shelves. Mr. Reed expects to see company revenues benefit from its introduction. REED has recently experienced a run up in the stock price and seems very dear, but I expect share price to continue to increase as revenue continues to spike. This stock is worthy of close scrutiny and I purchased a few shares today.

Bought it at 1.21 and a bunch of times under 2. I am happy with the foundation they've put in and with their healthy products.

Reeds is an under the radar player, with great products and growing brand awareness. They are in the right end of the beverage market in terms of absolute growth, and much more nimble than the major players. Insiders hold a fair amount of stock.

This is definitely a speculative play for me, because bottom-line growth isn't even close to where I'd feel comfortable investing in this company for real. But I love their products, and I'm seeing them in more and more places. I also like that the company is in acquisition mode, even making a play for Jones Soda at one point. They also appear to be aggressively marketing their products internationally.
Recs
Company has turned corner and is finally making a profit. Consumer good also likely to do better in any downturn.
