Other CAPS members have scored well when picking this stock to outperform above $12, so IMHO at $7.05 it's a penny stock from heaven. Also we are not going to be free of our dependence on oil globally anytime soon, and this might be a good hedge against inflation of the US dollar.

I'm still bullish on this stock, but wondering why it's dropped so much since it hit the high $18s a week or so ago?

When we have to drill and I mean DRILL, this company is well placed and already in position to profit on the Gulf of Mexico, TX, LA, OK. I think they have the model to make great profits. The only question is the price of Oil when it turns winter up north.

5 star winner on the growth train (24.2 p/e)

Taking a stab at the Lynch fundamentals for a growth stock. Small Cap stock off the beaten path operating a boring business. 3 year eps growth rate of nearly 24%, .41 debt to equity, and on a strong revenue growth path. I like this stock quite a bit.

Despite the increasing efforts to become independent on oil, we must face the fact that oil is not going anywhere in the short term and I would rather invest in a company that was a supplier to the oil companies than the oil companies themselves...

Testing out a portfolio of smallish-cap 5-star stocks found using the CAPS screener. All picks have at least 50 allstars backing them, which should be enough to minimize star rating fluctuations. It's been less than a week, but so far so good!

Oil and oil services are sadly not going anywhere for quite a while. With booming markets in Asia, demand for RPC's product will only expand. As long as management can handle the load, I expect good things from RPC.

Oil prices will continue to rise and this is a sure bet if they keep they debt down.

A quickly growing company while it keeps its debt manageable. I would like to hold this one for a long term investment but with my profits above 25% it is a little too tempting to bank the proceeds.

Insider buying, are they fools. Combine with the price of oil is not going down. They should benefit from continued spending to get the oil out of the ground.

TDRH and the CAPS community both rate this stock highly, which is a good sign. The community rating could even be a SOURCE of momentum, but that would only be very short-term, I imagine.

More to the point, take a look at Jim Jubak's article, dated today, on the energy situation. In effect he is saying: You know that terrible energy problem which the whole world is suffering from? Well, the US government has just gone on record as promising to do nothing about it. Jubak is especially recommending oil service companies right now.

Though it may be too obvious to mention, oil service stocks tend to do well when the price of oil is high. Been reading the OPEC pronouncements lately?

I like it when chairmen buy their company shares.

RPC Inc. looks like a great investment over the next 5 to 10 years...maybe longer. Most oil companies outsource repairs, maintenance, and other services on their equipment etc. to contractors, whether it be on land or offshore. RPC has a nice little niche in a very fragmented market. If they play their cards right and keep their business model lite, this stock should provide some S&P smashing returns over the next decade.

The fundamentals are excellent and the inside ownership is more than respectable. Oh, and the management has been scooping up a lot of shares lately. That's also a good sign in my book.

Bought in a couple weeks ago after I discovered the insider buying and I thought it fits in nice with all my other oil/gas picks.

Nice insider buying binge - I bought today and will look to see if and when to add more in the next few weeks.
