RSC Holdings, Inc. (RRR)

CAPS Rating:
***

The Company is an equipment rental provider. It rent equipment, mainly to industrial and non-residential construction companies, ranging from large equipment such as backhoes, forklifts, air compressors, scissor lifts, booms and skid-steer loaders etc.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

When investing, I've always been told to stick to what you know. Well many don't see the intrinsic value with RSC Holdings. Here are some things I know, and these are reasons why I think RSC will construct market smashing returns for a good 10 to 15 years. The business prospects for RSC are quite salivating... especially if they move more into the global market. You have an explosion of economic activity and construction occurring all over the world right now. You have enormous expansion projects underway at almost every major refinery in the U.S., and despite the housing slow down, you have expansive construction taking place for many commercial properties. Oh and there's one last thing....all of these items I've mentioned....require construction equipment. You're looking at an increased need for a lot of new contractors without a lot of start up money to buy that equipment, but maybe enough to RENT IT.

So, who are you gonna call to rent your construction equipment......NO! NOT GHOSTBUSTERS!!!...RSC Holdings.

The company doesn't just rent larger equipment either. They also lease out generators, welding rigs, electric hand tools etc. I think this can be a useful rental segment when the need for the larger equipment hits the lulls.

RSC is really the only major player on the field right now, and they look to have what it takes to build a very successful business over the next decade.

Broken IPO with absolutely no sponsorship in the institutional investment community. Very cheap (half the EBIT multiple of MINI, admittedly a very expensive stock but soon to be the only legitimate comp with URI and WLSC going bye bye). Great earnings report their first quarter out, beat by a penny raised guidance by two, and welcomed with a 7% shellacking for its efforts. I honestly think this stock would hvae been up 4% or more on a normal trading day, too bad they reported on the day the music died. Actually, not too bad, gave me an opportunity to add it to my CAPS port!

Beat this Stock

Clicking "Beat this Stock!" will bring you to a company with a higher rating than the one you're currently viewing.

Even though CAPS shows only one- to five-star rankings, behind the scenes, all companies in CAPS have a distinct numerical ranking. In other words, there is a No. 1 stock in CAPS and a worst-ranked stock in CAPS. When you arrive at the top-ranked stock, clicking "Beat this Stock!" will cause the page to refresh.

That is, until there is a new No. 1 stock!
