Rentech took flying lessons today on their synthetic fuel. I think I see the spent rocket returning back to earth. I could find no stellar news for the near 50% run-up. It apparently was just Rentech's turn to be lite by the speculators. Some days these speculator flings last 2-3 days and new stages are reached, leaving me well under water. In this case, I'll take my chances that the synthetic fuel is not any higher octane than Rentech's usual money losing grade. Revenue for Rentech is all over the map according to the last four quarterly reports. In reality most of it is a paper push and it falls off on the cash burn sheet. P/B is 11, Book value per share is $0.11. Alternative energy companies have taken a nice ride on tax incentives and played stimulus money, but the reality is not playing out. The Rentech-SilvaGas biomass gasification process sounds promising, but is still in early stages. In the meantime Rentech needs to rely on it's nitrogen fertilizers. I'm going to gamble that the unusual share price jump today on 30 Million shares was fueled by a lot of fertilizer.

This company has good IP, strong executive team, strong investors backing up future r&d, promising long term contracts like the one with LAX and some interesting military prospects. The injection of $20m in fresh capital from institutional investors buying the stock at $1.8 for a company at the startup stage, signals a potential 5x to 10x return over 5 years. In the short term is is undervalued as $1.8 sets the tone for fair market value as per accepted accounting practices. Also before such big investment, investors likely asked for audited finances...

This is a great long term investment in energy independence. The US Air Air force plans on using up to 50% synthetic fuel by 2016 and have recently purchased the companies RenJet fuel. Imagine the profits that could be earned if they became a major Air Force supplier. In addition, their fuel has also been purchased for use in ground vehicles at a major air port. Company recently had their first profitable quarter. Price is down a little the last few days due to a minor dilution to raise additional funds. I think this is a good entry price and I plan to hold long term.

Will be breaking ground on new commercial scale refinery soon, has sold first license for a power plant in West, already has agreements to supply fuels, could be a big move toward energy independence and security.

1) Governmental contract already in place

2) That contract stipulates the increased use of RenFuel in the future.

3) 1+2 = Governmental contractual guarantee of business growth.

4) Why are you still reading and not buying?

"On August 21, RTK announced it sold the Company's RenDiesel fuel to the Department of Defense to demonstrate the viability of the fuel at the upcoming Selfridge Air National Guard air show. This news comes on the heels of a previous Company announcement that it sold RenJet fuel to the United States Air Force, which has a goal of using synthetic jet fuel in half of its total fuel use by 2016."

This is a real iffy stock. If the miltary uses the recently approved fuels then I can see this stock make a forward move.
This really is my "gambling" stock.

Military use of fuel is extremly high and expensive. Should synthetic jet fuel be a cheaper option. Wow the skies the limit for this stock

They are in a unique position to be practically the sole provider in place of a newly approved jet and military fuel. In the meantime they fund their biofuel ventures with an established fertilizer business - mostly commercial corn crops. Well run since 1981...

Excellent potential in green fuel technology with more contracts to come from airlines and the Department of Defense..plus major players taking positons (Blackrock, Goldman Sachs)...only a matter of time before this stock is $10+ or is acquired by a major refiner.
