SAFM has been building their infrastructure the past several years while the protein-rich fad diets have had both highs and lows. Regardless of the fads, we are all eating more chicken each year.
Ethanol production levels will continue to put pressure on the price of feed for the chickens and therefore on the cost of the chickens they are processing for sale. However, most of find chicken to be generally a more affordable commodity than beef or pork which will also be affected by the increasing price of corn.
I've been buying SAFM off and on for three years and their dividends have kept me in the game even when I wasn't ready to commit more investment funds. I'm definitely staying for the long haul.

$37 by mid February

Chicken will be the "meat" when mad cow starts spreading across the border from Canada. Plus SAFM has very new and efficient plants.

low end of 52 week high. strong management. two week quarters, but should finish the year profitable.

the bird flue will pass and price for commodities will either fall or the price increase can go to the customers. Chickens will be eaten everywhere

Industry fundamentals are improving.
I would buy on dips as the stock has moved up recently.
Well managed company.

Buying this stock on dips. I personally know this family and operation and work in a position to be the end user of thier product line. These guys are a class act. Avian flu concerns are the wild card as far as stock price goes.

Wish Caps had been around when I was backing up my real-life truck at 21-22 earlier this year, but this is a company that should outperform comfortably from here, too.

I believe this is the best company in a business that is assured of being around forever. Too bad CAPS wasn't around for me when the European birdflu panic was at its height. Fortunately, I was able to benefit in real life. What these guys do, can be done by almost anyone with enough capital. How they do it is exemplery beyond the industry that they are in. This is one of the most transparent and astute management teams in America today. The industry may be cyclical, but whenever it down cycles, I add what I can afford and build my position. I've never had trouble sleeping from owning this company. Truly one of the best companies in America.

I personally think the whole 'avian flu' thing is way overblown. Remember SARS? Didn't quite turn into a global pandemic, did it? "Mad Cow" disease? Beef producers took it on the chin, but it was relatively short-lived.
I'm betting that history repeats itself.
