Anytime you have an item that people spend disposable income on where they are lagging behind demand, you are going to have solid short-term growth. There is no doubt that beer is always going to be a 'needed' commodity - right along with Tickle Me Elmo Version X.0! :)

Craft beers are taking over market share in this country. Boston Beer has been successfully positioning itself as a widely-distributed craft brewer as of late. I was sceptical at first, but their brewmaster's collection is actually excellent. Also, it's more approachable (both epicuriously and financially) than other craft brewers such as Dogfish Head (which I would buy in a heartbeat were it publically traded). The only Brewmaster's collection beer that I didn't find excellent was their black lager. I had the Winter lager last night for the first time, and it inspired me to add my two cents to this pick. Oh, not to mention that booze does well in a downturn!

Great company. Gut play. I have friends who work for them and they are happy with management and potential growth. They, the employees, all are adding shares to their own portfolios. That's a good sign. Taking advantage off their recent lull...

Near 52-week low, can only go up?

Took a hit w the price of hops and glass, but now, with their increasing national presence, I think they're going to be building to an export product with great potential.

Cold weather, holidays, and high probability that the Patriots will be in the Superbowl. Sounds like a good combination for at least a short-term gain in a NE brew company.
