This met a high level screen to indicate a buy and strong outperform against its peers (other tickers in its industry). My 1st version of this spreadsheet devles deep into the company's balnace sheet and recent income statements, combined with other relevant price data for the company including insider/institutional holdings, short interest, debt levels, etc.

Dig this stock. Worst case scenario they dilute it a little - and I don't care. They are a winner with no debt and good income.

Anticipate short-term mediocrity. Good dividend partly makes up for that though. Shipping will recover along with the world economy and international trade. Long-term play.

I bought in this stock about 3.15. It has solid management and no orders of new ships on the horizon. New ships is what is putting so many in debt. You can't build a bigger fleet without stuff to ship around in it.
With its recent announcement of a dividend, people will be flocking to this stock once more.

Wow! This stock is a bargain, I picked it up for under $3/share. I see a value of closer to $10.

I was intrigued by CAPS praise for SBLK so I did a little research. It appears to be a strong company poised for growth when the economy recovers (whenever that will be). In the meantime, their corporate fact sheet suggests to me that while cash on hand and forward contracts will keep the company afloat during these down times, neither of these assets are going to generate impressive profits for shareholders in the short term compared to many other better investments one can find. Other investors are probably reading the same numbers the same way and that may explain why SBLK's share price continues to fall despite what seem to be eminently investable numbers on the surface. Their incredibly low PE is backward looking and will probably change very quickly when the recent very low and no earnings quarters catch up with tardy number crunchers. The fact sheet also reveals that future dividends are subject to approval by SBLK's creditor. The current "best pitcher" for this stock is -22% with their choice and eight of the top ten CAPS SBLK scorers have earned their highest scores giving SBLK a thumbs down. SBLK will be a fine play in the long-run (whenever that is), but my assessment is that it will continue underperforming in the short-term. Good luck to all.

Strong forward looking bookings.

The S & P shouldn't move much more until there's real economic recovery and when that happens battered shippers like this one should lead the charge.

Because it's current price is ridiculous.

good fundamentals, good rating from Trademonster. Dry bulk carriers have been beat down by economic downturn and as things pick up their profits will, also.

Sblk is a beat up small cap stock in a sector which is in a beat up too. This company is in bul shipping which has a very good balance sheet which shows good management skills, low debt and pe.Great growth potential and value! Contracts tied in for the majority of their business for at least two years. CRIC countries economy will grow and materials will be need to be shipped to them. This is a three to four bagger in two to five years and maybe more depedning on setiment of the market. The demand for shipping will be grow and the SBLK will grow too. Great potential ! I will be buy many share of SBLK over the months and years. Be greed when other people are fearful and fearful when other people are great! Guess who said it?
