Time is winding down on Starbucks being a "leader" in its market. Taste studies show Dunkin Donuts and McDonald's make better coffee (Starbucks Coffee is burnt and bitter), and now McDonald's is expanding its offerings with McCafe as well. The difference of course is that McDonald's won't charge you $5 if you want a cookie with your coffee. Furthermore, Tim Horton's is expanding, mostly taking over old Dunkin' locations, but still offering a fresh alternative with more reasonable prices than Starbucks.
The "growth" strategy is not a good one, and people turned from debtors to savers will realize that $4 coffees just don't work in that kind of saver's budget. That will force the overexpanded Starbucks to close many of its stores, and while it will maintain a dedicated core "fanbase" if you will, it will lose market share as the more fickle customers try new things or realize they're getting a better value somewhere else. This will cause earnings to drop. Additionally, this stock has been overbourght over the last few months and is due for a downward correction.

People are not buying anything they don't have to have.

Still holds the corner for 'pamper myself i deserve it' attitude of general public. the customer base has not left they have only reduced vidsits. This is an awesome price to get Starbucks.

Consumers spending less on expensive coffee. Price is nearly double the 52 week low, and chart has turned technically bearish (broken ascending trendline, lower highs and lows, heavy volume selling this week.)

Everyone loves a nice hot comforting drink to go.
I'm just glad I didn't buy in 2008 when it was trading in the 20's.

SBUX is great. Great coffee, nice environment. But even though that place costs the same as say Dutch Bros. or any other coffee stand it gives off the appearance of costing you more. So people naturally avoid SBUX and go somewhere "Cheaper" - Especially now. I think later (couple of years?) they will get better. They are in a lot of trouble right now. Well not really trouble but they are un-growing. So... Same thing.

Becuz becuz becuz of the wonderful marketing she does:)

Hopefully, they'll get bought by McDonald's

Probably undervalued and taking a bit too much of a beating - looks like they are headed in the right direction long term.

PE is crazy high, I think the price will hit under $12 again.

McDonalds, Caribou, and the mom and pops are taking what SBUX made famous - and making it cheaper. It was a good run old friend.

Long-term this is going to be a loser. I live in Seattle, a few blocks from the original Starbucks. The traffic has died down, and profits will tumble soon. The P/E is too high for this, and McD is invading the space with premium coffee.
Recs
McD's are going to cut into it's market share, plus there are too many stores to sustain their past level of earnings
Recs
With McDonald's setting its sights on the coffee market in Europe, I expect the margins to be cut for SBUX. McCafe has the ability to undercut and run a bigger marketing campaign. SBUX, which once had this market cornered, now has a formidable opponent.

Government regulated car industry will not have cig. liters, cell chargers, cup holders, or room for your knees. Keep her on 10 and 2 and your eyes on the road, punk.

Starbuck is struggling in this poor economy since people are giving up their daily coffee in order to save money. And believe me, it does save a lot. Plus it makes your teeth yellow and makes you antsy throughout the day. This chain has closed thousands of stores because of the loss of money. Their earnings have tanked and everything is going wrong for them.

Very popular in emerging markets, and a staple of many Americans' mornings.
