I am pretty sure the guys who started Sandridge left CHK to do so. Kudos to them.

carbon dioxide capture is the key.

As goes the price of oil,...

Good energy play for long term.

Massive insider buying at prices much higher than today's closing (12/31 - $6.15).
This is another great secret like Linn Energy and their fortunate hedge positions. Buying SD isn't a gamble at this level... gambling is when the odds aren't in your favor. SD is a trade I'm definitely willing to speculate on because I see very limited downside...

The energy sector is on fire for the rest of the year. This sector is so oversold that these prices will be laughable this time next year. This was $60 stock in the summer..hell if it gets to the$20's again I will have a Ferrari sooner than later

A Boone Pickens darling. Once the temporary downturn in Demand is realized to be a media creation for the most part, and all the canceled oil drilling and production projects diminish supply far beyond any conceiveable reality for the Demand that has remained real in the real world, the stock will rocket back up to its pre-panic levels...
Recs
Now, this stock is compelling. At almost $70 it was a pipe dream.

Sandridge has been doing well in OK. It's cheap and I'm in!

Insider & Gurus

As of 10/30/08: Very savvy management team who drilled over 400 deep wells in far west Texas from 6/30/07 to 6/30/08 and increased production by almost 100% over the same timeframe. Projections call for a 50% increase in production in 2009, y-o-y. SD now has 1,884 producing wells as of 6/30/08. The Company made $50MM for all of 2007 and lost $20MM for the first half of '08 because of a $246MM uneralized loss in their hedging positions. As commodity prices have declined sharply since July, 2008, look for a reversal of the unrealized hedging losses in 3Q and 4Q '08. Plus the drillbit is still turning. They have 41 drilling rigs in their fleet. Look for total proved reserves to increase significantly for 2008 y-o-y.

underperformed sd when it was above 60 and ended my pick too soon at around 47 when it dropped more than 20%. around that time it had a 5 star caps rating but i saw it as a 2. its always risky to buy stocks with negative earnings but this one has good potentail to make a lot of money soon. not a lot of alternative to oil and gas right now and the existing ones arent much of a threat. maybe in the future well see a car powered by sugar or something. overpriced at current price?.......i dont know.....maybe. once it shows positive earnings the price will go even higher. will end my pick once it gets over overprived. tom ward just bought some at 28. lets wait and hold til its ubove 30.

9/29/08 - bloody sell off, time to buy good stuff. Sitting on great natural gas reserves in US. Benefits from Pickens plan and other alt-energy plans by next president.
Recs
Note to self: Long term buy, don't expect large initial returns. Initial purchase price seems resonably low compared to the previous year. P/E Ratio: 151.00
Recs
Good management and generally good fundamentals.
The recent decision to open derivatives contracts gives me pause, though. It's a lot of exposure. Their operating fundamentals appear to be excellent, but losses in the past two quarters from mark-to-market derivatives are dragging down the EPS.
Anyone have more insight?
Recs
Easy to tell you why SD will go up...Tom Ward! Enough said.
Recs
similar to chk, trades like its joined at the hip. Appears to have recently sold off some area's to concentrate on central area. "Big time" wall street firm downgraded based on interpretation of reserves. My money is on "the company knows best" what they have in the ground.
