Beaten down sector and an admirable company making a huge and increasing investment in growing its pipelines, 40% higher than just a couple of years ago. They generate about $2.2B/year of cash flow, then spend $2B/year building pipeline. They could dial down their cap ex if needed. The dividend at 4.1% is pretty remarkable — they say they’re going to increase it 8%-9% 2015-2017. Outperform.

As middle-east oil becomes more scarce and expensive, natural gas will become more attractive.

Natural gas will be an increasingly major factor in the energy markets and Spectra Energy will be making money off of their less-volatile, tollbooth money-making business model.

The company is relatively new to the drilling business and is starting at a time which is difficult since OPEC is manipulating oil prices. However, they have brand new equipment, US contracts for drilling and a large fleet of rigs for when off-shore drilling begins to come back in earnest. This makes me feel a little guilty since I invested in Solar City due to a desired non-reliance on oil on my part. But, I'll invest in reality whether it fits my morals or not. At least, to a certain degree. I purchased this stock on 01/15/2015 for $33.07 and it has already risen to $36.81. I believe it will continue to grow over the long-term as oil prices rise again.

Oil is down and SE is being unfairly punished. It seems like a nice time to buy in and take advantage of this solid dividend payer. I'm not saying that this is the bottom, but it doesn't have to be the bottom for it to be a successful investment. I like it right now.

Oil prices will rebound by December 2019 (5 year time frame)...WTI at $54b today...I've seen this roller coaster so many times before. This time I'll make some $ on it.

Getting hit really hard from the oil price drop. Great company that I think will return when the price returns to it's normal levels.

Nat gas pipeline biz and western Canada, too, should come back with a roar, especially if a "free market" Congress allows LNG exports, which I believe will happen soon enough; the Republicans will probably have the Senate come January, 2015. PS. Harry Reid is the sum of all fears. Mitch McConnel is our guy.
