Natural gas, good performer for Duke, energy is a must have resource.
Recs
A spinoff of Duke energy. Extensive portfolio of nat gas transmission lines and storage.

A natural gas play that is not levered to the price of natural gas. (SE) stores and transports gas, and gets paid to do it whether the price of natural gas is $1.00 or $10.00. Natual gas usage is and will be on the rise. Watch for the company to seek additional storage capacity which in turn will generate more cash for the company. A nice dividend will help ease the waiting period.

Spectra Energy is engaged in the gathering, processing, transmission storage and distribution of natural gas in North America. As of January 31, 2007, the company operated approximately 17,500 miles of transmission pipeline. Its customers include local distribution companies, marketers and traders, natural gas producers; gas-fired electric generators, residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
Prospects for the natural gas industry appear bright in U.S as the residential and industrial consumption is set to rise in 2007. Spectra Energy is embarking on strong initiatives to strengthen its presence in the growing industry. Demand for natural gas in northeastern U.S is rising and to capitalize on the opportunity, Maritimes has recently received an approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission due to which it would enhance its capacity to supply 833,000 dekatherms of natural gas per day, thus almost doubling the capacity. This could spell good fortunes for Spectra Energy as it has a solid 77.53% stake in Maritimes.
Additionally, company’s subsidiary ‘Algonquin Gas Transmission has received the treasured sanction from FERC, to construct an underwater natural gas pipeline the company, thereby meeting the demands of surging northeastern demand. Spectra energy currently has about 250 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity and to enhance the same, the company has entered into a partnership with New Jersey Resources, to jointly develop and operate a natural gas storage facility with the capacity to store over 10 billion cubic feet of natural gas for markets in Pennsylvania and the Northeast United States. Thus, in the light of vibrant business actions taken by the company to fortify its stance, its scrip deserves to be enamored by the investor’s wit.

This is a Duke Energy spinoff with many people from Duke going over to SE. They bring along much knowledge and expertise. Duke was always a good stock since I owned it and I expect the same from SE.
Recs
Spin off of Duke Power with overwhelming gas distribution, storage and pipeline network.

stock will gain in 2007 as earnings grow

Beaten Down Gas Delivery Stock. Going up.

Price has adjusted. With great management and growth oppurtunity for an already established company. Investing into all sectors of energy.

Spectra Energy was born lucky. As a spin off from Duke it has the advantage of being a brand new company with a clean slate upon which to write its own history... but it also has a past best charactorized as a long and profiitable operating history as a part of Duke.
Spectra gathers, stores, processes, transports, and delivers natural gas. As pipeline company it is a behemouth in an industry comprisied mostly of small to mid cap players. I expect that continued growth in the pipeline operations will provide higher earnings along with higher dividends.
Its utility operation can deliver stable and consistent earnings growth as well.
This company, I predict, will become a core holding in public and private pension funds.
Energy companies will, by needs of a growing global economy and shrinking supply of energy, continue to outperform the S&P, in my opinion.

Pure power play. market dominant position
