Apple just acquired an 11% stake in Sharp Corporation. Sharp is supposedly the prime supplier of display surfaces for the upcoming AppleTV.
They're the biggest solar panel manufacturer in Japan, and the Japanese government is going to subsidize "green" energy thanks to the Fukushima meltdown. Apple may seek screens for their products elsewhere because of legal trouble with samsung, and sharp's auto-stereoscopic displays should get plenty of sales if Nintendo's 3ds ever picks up steam.
Trading for less than book value with more than two billion USD in net current cash. They are aggressively trying to become an energy company: design, manufacturing, sale, distribution, and service of solar energy. They also and making a big leap to become a leading producer of thin-film.
Strong solar play which is under appreciated. They are the biggest makers of solar cells in the world.
