Dying business. Stores themselves look like they are going bankrupt. I see lots of competition and little upside here. I'm staying away from Sears.

the real estate is worth multiples of the current stock price alone and lampert finds ways to unlock value in areas of his operation. I favor owning the stock and selling covered calls .... this volatile stock has huge premiums and it just won't fall much below 30 because of the intrinsic value of the operational pieces, which are better than the whole. as far as retail goes, it is a mere formality that it will eventually fail, but there is a reason it is not priced like JCP... think about that .... and you will see that the smart money keeps buying for a reason.

This is the most hated stock in America by professional analysts, something like a 99-1 ratio of sellers to buyers. But, INSIDERS continue buying. Great investor Bruce Berkowitz and a few other bigs have followed CEO Eddie Lampert in buying huge numbers of shares, until the remaining float is less than 20% of shares outstanding. Most of that is sold short, so any good news will result in a monster short squeeze. And good news is possible. Not for the retail operation; that is obviously doomed. But the real estate is still worth a great deal, probably enough to bring twice the current share price in liquidation. Berkowitz estimates that the company would be worth $150 a share in liquidation, but that is probably optimistic. I have bought a bunch of shares at $33; I'm hoping to get maybe $60-70 when it's converted from retail into a real estate operation. Maybe a lot more if there's a big short squeeze.

Kmart will be the death of Sears Holdings. It's only a matter of time.

Doesn't look good when you have to borrow money from your boss's other business.

I think the writing is on the wall. The end of this company began a while back. I'll ride it as a thumbs down for a while but I think it's inevitable that this company won't last with the likes of Amazon and Wal-Mart.com. I just don't see people shopping here anymore.

Bleeding cash. At this rate, they will be out of business in a few years.

The writing is on the walls with this one. As a retailer, they're on the way down. If they can leverage their real estate holdings then they may be able to return some money to shareholders before they go bankrupt, but I wouldn't buy shares at this level.

Negative earnings, negative free cash flow, poorly managed by most accounts--there are tons of reasons to short this stock on CAPS. But all you really need to do is walk into a Sears (I walk through one to get to other stores in the mall). It's depressing--nobody in the whole place is happy to be there.
