I just don't see a catalyst that suddenly helps Sears turn around from what has been a near-constant record of poor performance and lousy stock returns. Underperform.

Sears has failed to change with the times. IF the converted to a club style store similar to Costco, changed its mix of goods, it could have a chance. But even that would be hard to out Costco Costco.

I remember the Sears Christmas catalog back in the day. Good memories back then. I also remember tuning in UHF tv stations about the same time.

Many years of tradition at Sears that have been unimpeded by change. Unfortunately the world has moved on. I don't see the value in the stock. Some talk about the value of the real estate. Seems like a hard sell with such a retail loser.

Maybe SHLD could turn their stores into museums.

Selling your best real estate leaves only scraps left to clean up before bankruptcy.

You can only sell off assets so long before you have nothing left.

now that the real estate is being spun off, very little value here.

I'd be shocked if I didn't eventually score 90 points on this selection. Negative TANGIBLE book value and a management team that is struggling to define a strategic direction. I personally think its too late for Sears and its shareholders. Losses as far back as the eye can see and there seems to be no end to future losses.

I would rank this with CZR as a pretty obvious short candidate.

Doesn't look good when you have to borrow money from your boss's other business.

The writing is on the walls with this one. As a retailer, they're on the way down. If they can leverage their real estate holdings then they may be able to return some money to shareholders before they go bankrupt, but I wouldn't buy shares at this level.

Negative earnings, negative free cash flow, poorly managed by most accounts--there are tons of reasons to short this stock on CAPS. But all you really need to do is walk into a Sears (I walk through one to get to other stores in the mall). It's depressing--nobody in the whole place is happy to be there.
