Well positioned to capitalize on HD trends. Low debt. Good cash flow. Risky, lots of competition but current momentum is in the right direction.

Not everyone has this technology in their homes, yet. That is changing, however. Expect to see a continued high demand for HDMI as more consumers make the transition to high definition home entertainment over the next couple of years.

It's a heck of a racket, actually. Not only does Silicon Image profit nicely from selling its own chips, but also takes a cut of the revenue whenever Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN), Analog Devices (NYSE: ADI), or Cavium Networks (Nasdaq: CAVM) sell an HDMI controller. I dare you to find a TV, a Blu-ray player, or some other set-top box in your favorite electronics store that doesn't feature this technology today, and Silicon Image is also looking to extend its reach into mobile devices with the new MHL standard. Like it or not, Silicon Image is doing alright. This is a sin stock for me.

Silicon Image is up 52% since December 13, while the S&P 500 is down 14%. I put this company in the Magic Formula, thanks to Joel Greenblatt's and it has been my top performer the past six months. What's not to like about a company that's grown from $7.8M in sales and book value of $.73 to $320.5M in sales and book value of $3.72 over the past ten years? And the price is 7.43 - just two times book value. I like this small cap stock and expect this stock to continue to outperform the market.
