*I originally wrote the below as a pitch for my first red-thumb of SIRI way back in May 2006.*
This battle is about *content*, period.
Who one the war VCR war, VHS or Beta? Who had the superior technology?
Who one the operating system war, Microsoft or Apple? Who had the superior technology?
Content, content, content - I'll grant you that Howard Stern is a unique commidity, but it's not enough. As for the rest of traditional radio fare, music is music, sports is sports, news is news. Where is the *content* advantage that can't be duplicated and can't be done with pretty much the same effectiveness as syndication?
This Fool just doesn't see it.
A disruptive technology? If these guys don't win the *content* battle, satellite radio will join Betamax and the long list of other failed technologies. Without superior and differentiated content, the only disruption this technology will bring is to its shareholders' portfolios.

Too long takes for merge!
Recs
Well so much for the after merger "POP" everyone was betting the negative equity on they're homes on. This should serve as a lesson to all who thinks they can play the market, without the required "basic" understanding of a companies fundamentals.
Companies that "loose" more than they are worth and own, are INSOLVENT!!!
I don't care how you slice and dice it, Howard Stern, MLB, Nascar,..... whatever! It doesn't matter,.... if you're losing more than you own, your done!
Recs
It will take some time to get the two companies on one page and start turning profits, bad short term stock.
Recs
Till the merger is offical I believe many people will sit on the side lines.

I am 30 years old. A lot of my friends in their mid-twenties prefer Ipods over anything having to do with Radio. In my early or mid-20's I'd have been the same. But I'm older now. I've gotten into talk radio. I'm interested in hearing people blab all day about stocks and struggles in the world. I'm so boring that sometimes the news actually interests me. I'll be the first to say that Ipods get boring after a while. They remind me of that old Twilight Zone episode where the guy thinks he's ended up in heaven because he can obtain absolutely anything he wants... then it turns out having everything he wants is hell. Radio is alive. It's not your bajillion-song playlist repeated for the gazillionth time. It appeals a little more to the intellectuals. I think stay-at-home moms like it. I own a few hundred shares bought a little too high in 2007. I will hold onto it for a while, because I believe in radio and all it has to offer. Sirius crushes terrestrial. ten years from now, will you wish you'd gotten in near the $2 mark?
Recs
Sirius is a long-term good pick but for the next few months while the merger is being completed will be under performer. I would still place my dollars in this company. Look more to the future.

There is still hope for the radio...Lets see what happeneds.

BAD MANAGEMENT DECISIONS

dragging

It has one thing going for it the merger ..... I expect it will go through and will get a nice pop but very short term .... after that it is a numbers game and the numbers will be weak for some time.

GOING DOWN
Recs
Who actually likes to pay for radio???
Recs
Once the merger finally goes through this stock will jump possibly to a $4.00 target, which at that point i have a sell on.
Recs
How many million for Howie, 500,000,000. Is this the correct number of zeros?, I lost count. Is this the going rate for a man of such incredible "talent"? C'mon get real, that's more than God makes.
Recs
Waiting for the anticipated merger of XM radio and sirius radio.
Recs
SATALITE RADIO IS TAKING A HIT, UNLESS XM AND SIRIUS MERGE EXPECT THESE STOCKS TO DECLINE OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS AND UNDERPERFORM THE MARKET
Recs
Not ready for prime time, music and news toeasy to get for free, mopst people do not understand concept or want this service.
Recs
This stock will continue to underperform because of the obsurdly long merger hearings related to it. This merger is completely non-monopolistic yet has taken longer than any merger in history including Exxon/Mobil which actually effects everyone. As long as our elected officials and those hired by them continue to make decisions based entirely on their own preferences or the amount of money they receive from men like Rupert Murdoch, and not what is best for the country, we will continue to spend time and money on pointless hearings such as those effecting the sirius/XM merger.
