SKF plays a double reverse on DOW Financials. They face the same bond market crisis, Real estate crisis, Consumer purchase slow down. And, The Feds relief is stuck in the Senate. To top it of Ambac has a class action being pursued against it.

The banks are still hurting and this "UltraShort" will go up when they go down by an even greater percent.

My rationale here is mostly the same as for SDS but I suspect that in a few months the finance and real estate industries will adjust to living back in the Real World. As such, I'm guessing the declines in the relevant stocks will level out in 6 months or so.

Subprime mess.

Falling Dollar.

Risk of recession.

Financials just aren't the place to be right now.

We have yet to see the end of this crunch, needless to say this stock will profit from all of that. In these somewhat volatile times, this stock will seesaw up and down, but in the next few months will take more steps forward than backwards.

The financials haven't seen the last of the write downs and their is too much fuzzy math going on. Many banks are putting thier CDO's into Tier 3, which there is no market for, so they don't have to take a hit. Eventually they will be forced to bring them back to to Tier 2 which they will then have to write down. The banks won't be a buy until one of them falls or they start cutting their dividends.

I think further weakness and writedowns in financials will cause this to rise over the next few weeks to months, but I don't have a lot of confidence in this pick. The worst of the writedowns may be over, but SKF may still have room to rise in the near term. Don't listen to me though, I'm basically speculating

Good fund for hedging against the banks. This stricly short term a buy on the dip and sell on the upside. I've done fairly well buying and selling this stock/fund over the last few months. Found this fund through Jim Jubak.

Many hedge funds tied to sub prime. M&A deals were shaky.
