Superlattice Power, Inc. (SLAT.OB)

CAPS Rating:
*

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

What company am I shorting? SLAT.OB brings up Superlattice Power in Yahoo! Finance. Then, if you click on Company Profile, it's talking about Zingo Inc. Then I find out from Tastylunch that it used to be called JavaKing Coffee. Yahoo! has its company website as www.tradewindsteelecom.com, and it...More

You can tell from the chart that this stock has been well-pumped (up 500% in a few months???) and is now in the dump phase. Get in while it still meets the CAPS minimums!

SLAT.OB is one of the companies with a too high valuation compared to its sales potential. Its current sales are nil, and so is loss making.

Reading thought some of these press releases on this company's website and...oh no. I'm in IT. I know this game. Sometimes I PLAY this game. This is using a lot of jargon and technical phrases in a manor to confuse and impress people not seasoned enough to realize that it's all more or less meaningless. I'm no expert on superlattices or whatever it is, but it does nothing but remind of occasions where I'm on the phone with a sales person at a software vendor and they go on about how "Web services can leverage the SOA of the Java beans and..." Yeah. Tip to those guys - don't try that tactic on a guy who designs those systems for a living.

Blowing a smokescreen up using fancy words is usually just a way of disguising a crappy or non-existant product, and I'm almost certain that's what's going on here.
