Accomplia looks very good. It appears to be OK'ed very soon by the FDA, it is already OK'ed in Europe. The side effects are depression in some people. Relatively easy to handle. People lose weight, stop smoking, loose the craving for alcohol, and if that isn't enough increase HDL.

Despite the challenges presented by early generic releases (ex Plavix 5 years before the patent expires) I feel that Sanofi-Aventis's advances in influenza treatments (the active ingredient in Tamiflu and an emerging vaccine) should help float the company across choppy waters. If Acomplia ever gets its legs I think this stock will explode in the short term. I'm planning on selling around 2009, however, unless another drug steps up to fill Plavix's shoes.

This company is unbelievable, if you read about their research technique, basically these guys are throwing together as many different possible drugs as possible and putting them in for approval. This compnay will be MAJOR in the longterm.

SNY has new drug (rimonabant) in a new class of drugs (endocannabinoid receptor antagonist) which is effective in weight loss, metabolic syndrome, raises HDL (good cholesterol) an helps quit smoking. This drug has been approved in Europe and UK this spring. Pending FDA approval late this fall.
