SunPower Corp (SPWR)

SunPower Corporation (SunPower), incorporated on April 24, 1985, is a vertically integrated solar products and services company that designs, manufactures and markets high-performance solar electric power technologies. Its solar power products are sold through its components business segment, or its components segment. In January 2007, it acquired PowerLight Corporation PowerLight, known as SunPower Corporation, Systems (SP Systems), which developed, engineered, manufactured and delivered large-scale solar power systems. These activities are performed by its systems business segment, or its systems segment. Its solar power systems, which generate electric energy, integrate solar cells and panels manufactured by it, as well as other suppliers. It operates in two segments: components segment and Systems segments.

Components segment

The Company's components segment sells solar power products, including solar cells, solar panels and inverters, which convert sunlight to electricity compatible with the utility network. Its sells its solar components products to installers and resellers for use in residential and commercial applications. It also sells products for use in multi-megawatt solar power plant applications. It sells its products primarily in Asia, Europe and North America. Products sold through its components segment include solar cells, solar panels and inverters.

The Company manufactures its solar cells at its manufacturing facilities in the Philippines. The Company operates seven cell manufacturing lines in its solar cell fabrication facilities, with a total rated manufacturing capacity of approximately 214 megawatts per year. It manufactures its solar panels at its panel manufacturing factory located in the Philippines. The Company's solar panels are also manufactured for the Company by a third-party subcontractor in China. In addition, its SunPower branded inverters are manufactured for the Company by multiple suppliers.

Systems segment

The Company's systems segment sells solar power systems and system technology directly to system owners. When it sells a solar power system it may include services such as development, engineering, procurement of permits and equipment, construction management, access to financing, monitoring and maintenance. Its systems segment consists primarily of the business it acquired from SP Systems. Its customers include commercial and governmental entities, investors, utilities and production home builders. It works with development, construction, system integration and financing companies to deliver its solar power systems to customers. Products and services sold through its systems segment include PowerGuard Roof System, SunPower T-10 Commercial Solar Roof Tiles, SunTile Roof Integrated System, Ground Mounted SunPower Tracker Systems, Fixed Tilt and SunPower Tracker Systems for Parking Structures, System Design, Financial Consulting and Analysis, Construction Management, and Maintenance and Monitoring. In addition to its solar power systems, it provides related Energy Efficiency services designed to increase the total return on investment through an integrated, seamless solution. It provides custom solar power generation and demand side management solutions.
