Has alot of debt, no dividend, earnings are all over the place, and declining revenues.

I too agree that given the demographics of the largest generation ever (baby boomers) due to begin retiring, and moving into assisted facilities in greater numbers (at least once the economy gets better) this company is well positioned to do VERY well. Intangible assets, book value, technical trends, etc, make this a very attractive long term stock buy

Baby Boomers.

Mathematics 101. More older people. Less and less grand kids to take care of them. Hello Sunrise Senior Living!
Recs
I want to have this company survive so when I retire and if necessary, I have a more luxury place to live in.
Recs
Now that Sunrise has shed its dead weight, it can only go up from here...that is, if they have also got there operational issues under control...
Recs
Baby Boomers will need their services more and more!!!
Recs
On same page as other posters, this market segment is only going to grow given the baby boomers and given the success so far, they know what they're doing in this field. Look at historical prices of SRZ before the recession and it's an indication of where it can go

Low Price with High Professional Opinion

The Company has turned the corner on its debt problems and is in an industry poised for tremendous growth. Their facilities are top quality and they just need to maintain the same degree of energy and expertise in growing the company as they did in repairing it.

Sunrise had the 'luxury', if you will, of once being a shining star with a lofty $30 per share price tag, and dropping like a rock below a dollar. They hold an excellent spot in the assisted living industry and while it won't see $25-$30 anytime soon, $15 is easily possible if it beats estimates and $20 in the 1-2 year range.

I've been long SRZ ever since Nov 2008. As a former senior living professional, I knew SRZ was the iindustry leader with the best brand and the largest number of communities. After taking a tumble in 2008 due to bankruptcy fears it has turned around.
Now unlike many of its competitors, they are profitable. So it puzzles me how now that most of the debt overhang has been shed, that other senior living companies with fewer operating units, unprofitable, and with older properties are valued more than this company. They have no P/E because they are losing money but have a higher multiple of sales than SRZ.
I'm convinced it should be trading at 15-20 P/E but is now trading at less than 7.

Very bullish trend looking at the moving averages with some nice volume to support these prices. Buying on the pullback here although it may come down a bit more. I think this company is very much undervalued and is a long term buy with the increasing need for assisted living care for baby boomers in the near future. Another good one to pick up in this sector is SUNH which has been more profitable with good management, however, they do not have the global exposure as SRZ.

Two words....Baby Boomers!
Recs
Good future earnings.

Baby boomers are retiring by the hundreds every month. As the ecomony improves more will retire. They will need someone to take care of them in later years.

Management is selling failing assets and will continue to improve with aging population. New poltical climate will help growth over the next two years.
