Expectations can´t possibly be any lower. SSYS has four stars on Morningstar, meaning it trades below fair value.

It is going to be lackluster for at least the next quarter as SSYS reassesses platforms and additional offerings. However, I think that they will turn around the current trend and move to a more positive position.

Growth industry, currently out of favor. Selling for 20x operating earnings, not bad for a company with big future prospects. Appears better run than DDD.

Bottom fishing this battered 3D company's stock. Betting that the terrible 2015 performance and forecast is now priced in, and hopefully business improves.

What I am currently watching in regards to SSYS:

1. The entry of HP, Epson and other 2D printer manufacturers into the 3D printing space later this year or next. This will have a huge impact on lower priced printers.

2. Makerbot's growing bad reputation in the low cost market. Everyone I speak with has had nothing but negative comments on the makerbot product, which mirror my own experiences. I am hoping to see this trend reverse.

3. The race to the bottom in the consumer 3D market. I just don't think there is any money here.

4. Commercial applications, especially in the medical field, on the other hand is where the money is to be made in my opinion. I want to see SYSS continue to expand this area.

5. New printing mediums and techniques. Lots of new techniques on the horizon and SYSS will need to continue to innovate to succeed.

6. Adoption beyond the engineering department to wide scale use in commercial enterprises. This includes large scale, individually customized, production and one off parts produced on site. This is already happening.

Down 60% from its all time high in Dec 2013, to levels it was at in April 2011, this stock is definitely a buy right now. Although competition on the low end consumer 3D printer side is increasing and getting crowded, Stratasys pretty much owns the high end professional market, with only one major competitor, 3D Systems. I believe that this market is poised for a lot of growth and that Stratasys will be the beneficiary.

We were deciding between Stratasys and MicroStrategy, which one would beat the market over the next 3+ years. We went with Stratasys. We prefer SSYS because it has good buzz as a leader in 3D printing, has a great record of growth in sales, and also the stock price — while down 50% in the past year — is up four times in value over a decade, and a double over the last five years. They have good cash and no debt on the balance sheet, and they really don’t have a lot of competition in their market.

Keep the SSYS away from those ASW DDDs. This game is for FUN.

I think that this company should merge with 3D Systems to help fend off HPQ in the 3D printer market. The funny thing is, I do not believe that HPQ currently makes a 3D printer.

We compared this stock to Atwood Oceanics as our exercise, and have opted to pick Stratasys as a better bet to beat the market over the next 2-4 years. Stratasys is at a really low price right now due to recent acquisitions, and looks bad largely right now due to those acquisitions. We also have more faith in the 3D printing market than the oil market, long term. Solid balance sheet, no long-term debt, and overall neutral cash flow right now. We favor the Objet acquisition over Makerbot -- the company is going to need to figure out how to make a better bot of Makerbot.

Printing functioning cars, guns, even food reminds me of an old Warner Brother's cartoon with Sylvester the cat eating magazine pages with pictures of food. Brave New World. Worth a try at this deep dip.
