It has to many things going for it to fail, oil, wind, shale and Norway is the main holder of the Co. STO has a good production rate and is a first class Co. Deep water wells and cost of production is lower then most oil Co's

I think this stock is overdue for its run. I will watch October and if not up over 5% or more
will rid this as I like a faster mover. Besides Bret Farve is 3-0 for the Vikings, LOL

Not all potential after merger with hydro is allready put into full gear. Huge upside potential. Also good dividend payer.

An integrated oil & gas company, based in Stavanger, Norway. Has operations all over the world. Operates on 21 international oil fields around the world and 4 in the Norwegian region. 67% state-owned by Norway, one of the richest nations in the world with zero debt. Yes, you read that right. NO DEBT. And 11% SURPLUS budget every year. This means that this company will never go backrupt. Despite only 4 million inhabitants, Norway is the 10th biggest oil producer and 3rd biggest oil exporter in the world.
StatoilHydro (just Statoil in near future after their name change) is a bold firm with operations in places like the Barents Sea where others do not dear to venture.
Production averages more than 1.7 million barrels/day, proven reserves more than 6 billion barrels of oil equivalent. STO is the world leader in the use of deep water technology.
Not only an oil & gas company, StatoilHydro just built the world's largerst floating wind turbine - yes, you got it: harnessing wind power on the open sea. In addition they are about to venture to design and build a massive wind farm on the Sheringham shore in the UK which, when ready, will produce power for 226k British homes.
Wind farms on the open sea - from an oil & gas company? Somehow I don't really see other oil companies doing this. Backed by the massive oil surplus fund of the Norwegian government, there is nothing stopping this player from conquering the world of oil, gas and wind.

Four reasons why this company will outperform in the long term.
1) Ten years of proven reserves.
2) Oil won't stay down forever.
3) The dollar is near record highs, and will depreciate. This makes ADR investing attractive right now.
4) Dividend yield at nearly 4%. The dividend is in an ADR, so as the dollar depreciates, this dividend will be more valuable.

Norwegian oil company. I want to be invested in an oil company that is more honest than the rest. Call me naive, but in the long run there will be less hits, and the will make more money, in a more stable fashion. Oil/gas price is too low, we are still far away from a global shift from oil to renewable energy. The 50 years they think oil will last, will be expanded with another 100 with more fuel/gas friendly engines and production facilities. Prices will rise, as reserves get smaller. Long term, StatoilHydro will be one of the stronger energy companies. If they could just agree to change that stupid name. Earlier they were called Norol, with a twist, change it to NOROIL. Perfect!

A summer crunch in demand should give producers a boost.

Widespread reserves, among the first to test - successfully - carbon storage technology. Access to huge hydro reserves. Should lead the way past peak oil to post-carbon energy.
