Sinovac Biotech Ltd. (SVA)

If you can't beat 'em...join 'em. I've been getting CREAMED on downthumbing spulative swine flu stocks. Mr. Market is already insane, mix in some swine flu and drug rumors and he's hitting and running. Sinovac Biotech gets my upthumb, (this time, I pitched them down a few months ago, scored some points and managed to stay away from them). Sinovac gets a little more respect from me in the speculative field where every drug is either a vacine or an adjuvant (or having the properties to have the actual vaccine work more effectively and allow the vaccine to be adminsterd in smaller doses, stretching the supply). Sinovac has an approved H1N1 Vaccine and continues to rack in the orders, both in China and in Latin America. One problem with the vaccines is that, although they go out in LARGE volumes to stable contracts (governments), the margin is thin and, dare I say, the demand is seasonal. All in all Sinovac may not profit as much as investors think from the vaccine in China, but it does make them a player and a go to in other cases. The ability to mass produce vaccines is also limited in that the production is time consuming and typically production facilities are limited. Unlike other one-trick ponies, however, Sinovac has a stable of other drugs earning revenue in the Hep-A, B, and Influenza lines. Cash is strong, margins are very good, and Sinovac should be in good shape to continue earning investor respect, even if part of that respect currently is made up of speculators. I'm not sure if the potential revenues matches the current share price, but I expect intermittant speculation as the swine flu spreads and new contracts are announced to pop the price from time to time. The current levels seems to have some downward resistance. New variants are sure to arise to keep Sinovac busy from year to year. China has a huge population to try to protect.
