It's about time for an American firearm maker to recover from the frivilous lawsuits plaguing the industry.

Smith and Wesson have created a dynamic management team that has experience redirecting big ships into calmer waters. CEO, Mr. Michael F. Golden, comes from Black and Decker, having been accredited with that companies turn around, look at DeWalt. Further, S & W has acquired the licensing agent that was once Harley Davidson's, and we all know how well she did with licensing that brands name, don't agree, sit on any street corner. To take advantage of S & W's brand recognition, S & W has already signed world wide licensing deals with Law Enforcement Associates Corporation and Wilson’s Leather. LEA Corp. will be globally marketing their Explosive Detection Kit (EDK) and UVI Swift, a compact version of the company's under-vehicle inspection system with S & W’s logo. Wilson’s Leather, the leading specialty retailer of leather apparel and accessories in the United States, has been licensed to sell leather jackets, as well as a wide range of accessory items including belts, handbags, and wallets in various wholesale and retail channels of trade. Wilson’s Leather plans to develop a line of specialty leather outerwear and accessories designed for the unique requirements of the military, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, and other emergency personnel, as well as the outdoor sportsman. What’s best about this company is their dedication to making solid, forward thinking commitments that are not intangible to obtain. Because of these realistic commitments, every quarter Mr. Golden has not only made due on his commitments, but exceeded all of them. Although this company's main revenue generators are guns, there are many sectors of the market that purchase them. Not only hunters, recreational shooting sportsman, and home protectors, but also police departments, government departments, foreign governments, and local and foreign army's. Thus, they have a pretty wide distribution network. The most important aspect, which Mr. Golden is very aware of, is the company's extraordinary reputation for flawless gun manufacturing, all made here in the great USA. S&W has recently gone through extensive testing of their new M&P 40 (designed with the police officer in mind) by both the Columbus, Ohio Police Department and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Police (DFW). After multiple types of testing with many manufacturers pistols, both the Columbus PD and FWIAP placed orders to replace there 9mm. Sergeant Dana Winship, Columbus Division of Police was quoted saying "Trying to find a pistol to match the range of hand sizes of the 1,800 officers at the Columbus Police Department, along with insuring accuracy, durability, and the stopping power needed for police work, was a daunting effort. After an extensive evaluation of the various makes of pistols available, the M&P40 proved to be superior in all aspects. Smith and Wesson developed the M&P pistol with the police officer in mind. The M&P40 is an ergonomic, lightweight yet controllable pistol with ambidextrous capabilities, excellent accuracy and a crisp, smooth trigger pull. The officers on the street deserve the best equipment available. Smith & Wesson stepped up and delivered that with the M&P." Because of the testing done, along with the orders placed, this gives S & W major clout when touting other police departments that are looking to place orders for new firearms. Also, our government’s contracts will expire in 2007 with Glock (a non-US based company). This gives S & W a huge opportunity to increase sales. S & W has hired lobbyist’s to wake up our government to the fact that with such a superior armed forces dealer located right here at home, signing any new contracts with foreign businesses would not be seen as patriotic. Furthermore, the M&P 40 has been proven over extensive testing to be far more superior to the Glock 9MM in stopping power and performance. What’s more, S & W has plans to get into the long gun business with in the upcoming months, diversifying the brand and opening up new segments of the gun market for increased brand diversification and revenue generation. All in all, whether or not you believe in firearms, they are hear to stay and you might as well get aboard this boat and ride it for the long calm ride its going to be.
