Smith & Wesson is posturing it self for the future by purchasing five star gun maker Thompson Center (TC). TC has a very loyal customer base and very innovative products known for their quality. Any one who watches and Hunting DVD's knows that the TC brand is promoted heavily and used by those from the Team Realtree Group.

Smith & Wesson is known as the "Classic American Handgun" especially since Colt makes very few handguns for the shooting public any more.

Smith & Wesson must expand it's footprint into the long gun realm and must try to take away some market share by industry leader Remington.

I think they'll do it.

Company is able to use it's name and it's age in advertising. Has an improved future in market outlook with the purchase of a rifle manufacturer. This gives them a much larger sales area. Plus, management has a more positive attitude towards competing.

Smith and Wesson has had several good quarters and looks to steady growth.

hunting has always been an american tradition. it's our heritage and our right to bear arms. with it's ever increasing and new found popularity, this should be a steady market.

Fast growth, good profit, and competitor for several huge military contracts.

Recent completion of Thompson-Center Arms acquisition will boost bottom line over the next year or two. With a tide of triple digit earnings growth over the last three quarters, there is plenty of bottom side momentum to propel this company.

after over a hundred years of making quality handguns Smith & Wesson has entered the long gun market by aquiring Thompson Arms and beginning the manufacture of shotguns to reach the sporting gun market. additionally S&W has begun to agressively market its name for clothing etc. The growth over the next few years will be huge.

New management has brought new energy and a zest for recapturing contracts from Glock, Sig and Beretta for military and police use. New light weight MP series handguns driving contract growth. Thomson Center Arms acquisition bullish leap to tops in long guns. New products include a bolt action hunting rifle and shotguns.

The 154 year history of quality (ok, except for that bit of Clinton weirdness in the early 90's) and their products I personally own meets my requirement for a high quality business. There is a likely chance that several bids coming up in '07 will go through and give a really nice boost. Even if they don't they hold a strong market share with excellent name recognition and very good management track record.

There will always be a fight to fight.
