Always good to pick up some shares of ATT when price is low, as it is today (12/12/14).

AT&T is struggling to pay its dividend utilizing 83% of FCF to do that. It has a strong dividend but that is growing at 25-50% of what Verizon's is. Now they are debt ladened thanks to the buy of DirectTV. They will remain a strong entity as a dividend paying stock but no longer as a growth and what happens if those who own realize that Verizon is a better bet for dividends?

Will outperform because of ability to charge high prices for services and gives back a hefty portion of profits to shareholders in 5.1% dividend.

1.84 is a big dividend. Dividend has not been lowered for 30 years. Low beta and PE of 10.31 allows you to hold and relax. A little bit of earnings growth provides a healthy upside. T's entrenchment in its industry and strong dividend protect your downside.

Dividend, and low P/E, The market has gone overvalued in my opinion. T is at a resonable price.

Trend over 20 years, 1994/2014 is steadily down. AT&T may outperform relative to peers shortterm, I believe it will not change enough to alter it,s long term performance, it is simply to large to be agile enough to overcome the inertia of size.
