RISK: POLITICAL: Hundreds protest against this mine in a country that is not 'pro-mining'. But the company has followed the legal procedures and Goldcorp (with a 40% stake) has worked the system well in the past. Local and central goverments, thou corrupt, are not going to let this huge revenue steam go away. GEOPHYSICAL: The reserves are not completely proven. Studies thus far have revealed a good yield and the mine is in production, only 2 more years of production will pay of the current investment. I'll take the risk. THE PRICE OF SILVER: Silver is a traditional hedge for inflation. All the central banks are printing like crazy, these investments are paid in current dollars. Is this realy a risk or just a temporary down. UP SIDE: Guatemala is getting hooked on the revenue of the mines (yes plural) and we have a leagal system that holds up exploration. With an open mine and exlporation rights for the adjacent areas, they seem ready to grow.At $26 per share I am in.
They will face serious legal trouble and may even be shut down as Guatemala progresses toward democracy. The press has recently reported that the mine's chief of security was recorded ordering the murder of people who were protesting the mine.http://www.plazapublica.com.gt/content/el-pico-del-conflicto-minero
