The company is a BDC that has consistently paid a good dividend as well as increasing share price since I bought it. Of the BDCs this is one of the most stable.

I love the dividend and it's a well managed company with an Roe of 15. This is like a private equity ETF. You can go to their website and look at all of the companies that they own. Their holdings are well diversified and they have a ton of cash.

TCAP is a Business Development Company (BDC). The are headquartered in Raleigh, but buy small/medium businesses across the US.

Business model: Buy portions of public or private companies, issue debt to same, or a combination of the above mixed with warrants in order to gain income flow and capital appreciation.

Goal: Pay consistent dividends ~90% of income repaid to sharehloders. 2. Capital appreciation of underlying assets. 3. Steadily increase per-share income and assets under management.

Oddities compared to other companies: Debt isn't all bad, this company specifically deals in debt to make money. They secure loans from issuance of shares (Dilutive to you) and re-invest that money in further venture capital ideas. They also obtain money from the Small Business Administration at 4.8% and issue it as a bond at around 15%

Guidelines: They don't invest in startups or turnaround stories. Companies have to be established in their market, profitable, management with significant equity stake, wide moat, etc...

Bottom line is this: They need debt, it is their "toolkit". They get money from issuing shares or borrowing it and investing it or re-issuing it at a higher rate to companies likely to pay it back, and have been successful thus far.

Leadership: CEO makes about 1MM per year in combined pay. He owns about 4MM dollars worth of shares. I'd call that reasonable and aligned with shareholders. Other officers' ratios are similar.

They are cash flow positive and pay less than they earn but still a 10%+ dividend.

Would like to see more insider buying. A small BDC focusing on the smaller private market, yields about 11%.

During the meltdown of 2008, it didn't need to reduce or eliminate it's dividend.

Management is conservative, yield has only increased since going public with room to grow. Money raised from ipo a few weeks ago will be put to good use and increase book value. Price has been stable through uncertainty and did I mention the dividend?

TCAP = small diversified investor in small and medium sized businesses. Just increased their dividend again with current price the yield is over 9%. Expected growth of about 9.5% versus about a 10 forward P/E shows the company is reasonably valued. Company is a great financial shape and growing. Where else can you find a company without a lot of debt, growing at nearly 10% a year with a 9% dividend?

Quantitatively, we found that the price from div declaration to exdiv outperforms the market across all prior div periods.
