I expect,- Tencent will innovate with the competition with new online products.- Advertising and financial services will improve in China.- The population believes they are superior race wanting new, exciting, cheap and fun products.- It takes a Chinese company to understand the market, Tencent have demonstrated that.- Coming from a gaming background they know how to be fun while extracting value from their base.- WeChat is a great source of Chinese data collection.- The gov't needs powerful Chinese companies to work closely with.Tencent have many avenues to expand in Chinas volatility.
Wide-moat online companies are good for you, stock up on them.
I am adding this because (1) its Chinese, (2) its Social Networking, and (3) it has a large market cap. BAIDU has been good to me, so Tencents, might pay off for me as well.
This stock will outperform the S&P 500 in the long run. This is shown naturally in graphical data of the S&P. Though most Components of the S&P fluctuate the index up.
The incessant "beep beep beep" of its IM service is heard all over China. In markets, buses, schools, grocery stores, apartment buildings, literally everywhere. With 700 million active users, it makes sense. The whole country communicates via QQ. Now if tencent can just monetize that damn sound!
Good price entry point from technical point of view. Good long term growth prospect, with dominance in the chinese IM and online social market and increasingly able to turn a profit in these arenas. Its equivalent of face book + AIM+MSN+google talk.
copying SaraGen :^)more or less un-informed, i'm picking Tencent because i'm intrigued and want to start following it.
QQ is the most popular instant messaging platform in the world. great way to play two of my favorite megatrends. China consumer growth and the proliferation of smartphones.
