There are still a lot of buyers out there betting on this stock. With their upcoming sale of business in Czech Republic and the September acquisition of business throughout Italy, TEF is poised to beet the odds over the next three months. Look for High around $22.00 in January/February.

With Europe facing a decade or more of deflation/stagflation, telecom stocks are sure to outperform, just as they have in the United States.

A strong company with a global presence. Europe will gradually recover and Spain will survive, allowing the company to rise to valuation levels similar to other global telecoms.

The stock has been beaten down by Eurozone issues and dividend cut. With debt reduction activities ongoing and a reinstated dividend in 2013 TEF should head higher.

Only 24% of current revenues are coming from Spain. They are the leading telco in Latin America. Senior management took a 20% pay cut across the board and the suspended a few dividend payments to he pay down debt....which is working.

Their market in Latin America is growing. I am from Venezuela currently living in Lima, Peru and I have seen the growth taking place in Lima, Peru as well as my 16-years living in Caracas, Venezuela.

Call this somewhat speculative, but I love Telefonica's Latin American growth. The stock is getting battered for a few reasons:

(1) Significant debt load,
(2) Eurozone exposure, and
(3) Brazilian downturn

All of these are a bit frightening, but overall, I find the stock interesting enough to consider. Even if the Brazilian downturn harms Telefonica in Latin America for a few years, I still think that there's a ton of growth left in that region. The Eurozone crisis certainly harms Telefonica, but this is also a telecom company and not a bank. People are reluctant to eliminate their phone service even in the dismal economic environment of the eurozone.

I have enough concerns about the company and outlook so that this is a CAPS-only pick (at least as of this writing), but I want an incentive to keep an eye on it.

Eurozone macro fears shouldn't hold down this solid company forever.

TEF could slightly outperform the telecoms, but not so much that it will strongly rally. Also, its location in the Eurozone isn't likely to boost its share price.

I'm already on this bandwagon with real money invested in France Telecom. Today, I'm pouncing on Telefonica's deep value by starting a bullish CAPScall on the stock. Like Nomura, I have come to the conclusion that these multinational titans come with more opportunity than risk -- and it's almost impossible to find strong, cash-flow-backed dividends like these in any sector or geographic market.
