I am not a fan of TINY having bought at 12 and sold at 10 (long ago). With so many shares, venture capital gains (which have been practically not existent) won't drive up the price as much as I once believe. However, with the stock at $4.60, I believe it can outperform the S&P as the economy improves which will allow more IPOs.

Is riding the nano-tech wave

It just seems that their portfolio of private, nanotechnology companies in which Harris & Harris is invested are far from strong commercialization and income generation that will provide a return to TINY. I think the stock price will continue to languish in the low single digits.

This stock is currently way undervalued. The company continues to invest in many very exciting new technologies. Several home runs are just a few years away.

This has become a value play!
As of June 30th, the Net Asset Value per share of TINY was $5.43. Now, I understand that the market has fallen considerably since June 30th....but the bulk of TINY's business (some 75%) are privately-held businesses. There will be a certain hit to the NAV by the depreciation in stock price of Solazyme since its IPO's from TINY, but do the math. TINY owns 2.3 million shares of SZYM and on June 30th those shares were worth $23 resulting in a value of $53 million. Today, the price of SZYM has dropped $14, giving those shares a value of $32 million, a difference of $21 million, ouch. There are 31 million shares of TINY outstanding so the resulting hit to NAV would be $0.68. That leaves TINY with a current NAV by my prediction of $4.75. Historically, TINY has traded at a minimum of 1.1 times NAV which results in a price tag of $5.23. I'm long TINY.

The future is nanotechnology.

This VC firm is well positioned to grow in value over the next few years. Good buy to gain diversity in the nanotech sector, which will explode once the economy fully recovers. I like to buy solid stocks that are undervalued in times of economic uncertainty. All-Star Outperform ratio of 261 to 7 makes it a good bet.

As the market for microscale increases with time, this company should be well-positioned to capitalize. I'd expect wild swings in value, but an ultimate rise well beyond the market average.

Venture capital group well positioned in a number of companies primarily involved with some aspect of nanotechnology. Very smart guys leading this parade. Sector diversification by people with real skin in the game.

I bet on this small cap investing in nanotechnology! The future is here!!!!

Harris & Harris is a company that invests in start-up companies in nano-technology. The stock has been hurt by the recession and general absence of M&A activity in the technology sector. As the business climate improves TINY should see opportunity to cash in on some of its investments. Case in point: their portfolio company BioVex is being acquired by Amgen. I expect to see more of this in the next two to four years.
