This account tracks the fast-growing shakers and movers and some of the riskier stocks on my watch list.

Following Chris Graley and JakilatheHun. Harris & Harris Group is a non-diversified business development company that specializes in nanotechnology and other microsystems. The company is currently selling for NAV. As an early stage venture capital fund, this investment is highly speculative, but the upside appears to outweight the downside. In a "normal" investing environment, a company with this much "sizzle" would command a significant premium to NAV.

I have no great insight to provide on this one. I'm merely green thumbing to force myself to follow it a bit closer. What I like thus far:

(1) I've seen a few top Fools that I respect green thumb it, which intrigued me
(2) I like the company's strategy
(3) It looks reasonably priced
(4) I believe nanotechnology will be one of the boom industries of the 21st Century

I might do some more research on this one at this point, but it looks pretty good for a CAPS play or even a relatively small position.

TINY has a too high valuation compared to its sales potential. It is also loss making.

This is a speculative play. TINY already has 30 promising companies under it's wing. All of the companies are in the fields of nanotechnology, microbiology, biofuels and microchemical battery manufacturing. It has managed it's money well, but it's taking a hit today, due to another public offering. Given the way it's managed it's money in the past, I have to believe that they are about to acquire another promising venture or one of their current ventures is showing enough promise to require signicant investment. Either way, I think it's a bullish sign for the company.

The best way to play nanotech at this point. Gives you a diverse portfolio of companies and sectors. Very long term outlook with this one.

Going long. Their quarterly report just came out and it looks like a few of their companies may not get the capital they need this year. In the short-term, this stock may drop but I'm in for the long haul and think there is an excellent niche for nanotechnology that may not be tapped for another decade.

Invested in lot of potential listed companies down the road. Don't know how many will bear fruit, but hopeful in the 2-3 yr time. Expected some between Jan-Jun 2009, but the economic situation ended that. They put out a quarterly newsletter on their website now.

Harris and Harris's Tiny has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I hold some hoping they will take off some day, even years from now. Investing in tiny techs is a tough proposition in any economy, but the lack of funding has made it hard for even the better tiny's to grow. While funding is still tight, Harris and Harris has some nice plays in their stable. If any of them soar then Harris and Harris will gain in bounds. Harris and Harris, however, is savvy enough to keep enough cash on hand to help the better ones along and to be open to new positions. The risk here in my opinion is small, although there may be short term swings. The ability of the average investor to "get into" a company while it is still a tiny is small. Harris and Harris gives you that opportunity.

Many will consider this a speculative play, but I see great potential in nanotechnology. I have real money in TINY.

Trading below NAV. Cleantech is the next tech and Harris & Harris has significant investment in 11 companies in this area. A moderate rise in those valuations will be reflected in an (hopefully) immodest rise in the NAV.

its going to be a terrible year coming up, but investing in this bad boy will only help you in the long term. Obama's administration will help to strengthen the long-term future of this pick.
