So Im seeing a pattern that is really working for all stocks and not just this one. They are so worried about shorts and currently, this is certainly working.

Short first.....it will drop about 4 or 6 cents and stop (hardly enough to pay for the trade) but they are so determined to shake out that short position that they will not realize that youre buying on the way up. So far, works every time with absolutely no fear in the market. Looks like Im the only one who is affraid of waking up to DOW at 1000 pts.

Tivo is truly the Cadillac of DVR - once you've tried there is no going back.

My research says that TiVo's patents are worth hundreds of millions. Add to that a $105 million settlement from Dish -- at the low end -- and you get a stock with a suddenly deeper moat whose market value is now 33% denominated in liquid assets. I like TiVo as a market beater over the next 12 months, at least.

TIVO is no longer just a digital video recorder(best in class), but a digital video retriever. Think of internet portals and search engines for video via your TV. They beefed up Yahoo style expert selection via links to Entertainment Weekly, movie reviews etc. They have the peer ranking of thump up/thump down right on the remote and a history of your preferences to recommend others you might like. And they have the best user interface for DVR software that is hard to reproduce. There are several catalyst for TIVO in the near future.

1- The digital TV transition in Feb 2009 will force people to either add another box to decode off the air broadcasts, go to cable, or buy a digital recorder i.e. a TIVO. Think all the people with blinking 12:00s on their VCR's can handle another tuner in the chain ?

2- The FCC is forcing cable companies to open up their cable boxes. Thus Comcast is expanding it's roll out of TIVO and COX is due to do the same. And TIVO is working with Cable Labs to make sure the Tunning Adaptors for digital switched video is plug and play with TIVO's.

3- TIVO's four year patent infringement battle with DISH is near an end. A contempt hearing on DISH violating an injunction for shutting of DVR functionality will take place on Sep 4, 2008. Regardless of the outcome, TIVO is due around $100 Million from DISH for past damages up to 2006, if the US Supreme Court do not hear the case which it most likely will not. Around another $100 Million is due TIVO for 2006 to 2008 once the damages are determined.
Once DISH is force to either license or shut down it's DVR's, TIVO can license DVR technology to other consumer electronics makers.

4- TIVO is expanding a new revenue stream aimed at targeted adverts. i.e. you see a book, car, camera etc you like while watching a program, you can pause, order it from Amazon, then resume watching. And TIVO is selling a Nielson like service. The advertising market is huge, that's why Google is doing so well since it mostly captured the online market.

5- Last but not least, TIVO is now cash flow positive while paying legal fees and fighting past cheap cable box dvr's.

I'm optimistic the TIVO team can outperform in the long run. They are focusing their future services towards where the market is going. The series 3 TIVOs are the best DVRs on the market and allow you to stream, download, and record video.

This stock will underperform when I start enjoying commercials and watching movies on my VCR. Until then I will enjoy watching this company outperform the S&P.

Product quality. TiVo has the best product out there. As consumers learn this they will defect from the competitors.

I always base my picks on products that I actually use. In addition, it still is the easiest to use of all the different brands out there. And, once a product starts being used as a verb, it typically takes off.

With gas prices rising, even a trip to the DVD store is becoming an issue. TIVO, NFLX, even BBI stand to benefit short term (until video on demand catches fire).

I should have made this call a LOT sooner. Anyone who has ever had DVR will tell you they can't imagine going back to letting the networks tell them when they are going to watch their favorite shows. Once they finish bussing the table at the legal buffet, this one is going to to go high and long.

This stock in the services sector of the stocks and it's revenues rose 5% to $272.&M in January 2008 and the net loss fell 34% to $31.5M. The renenues reflect higher service revenues primarily due to year over year growth in TiVo-owned subscription base and increased hardware revenues. This stock should do very good do to the change over to digital tv service that the government is making on the tv service. Louis Navellier also is giving this a buy.
