Had a isolated bad quarter and took a huge hit. Should be back to business as usual and gain back the 30% it lost. Good dividend to boot should things not go up as planned.

Nitrogen is the most important fertilizer. Two of the most certain developments are the world population growth and it's need for more food. Great dividend, good value.

Big drop in share price (it is a MLP) should equal bigger dividend yields, attracting new investors/partners.

Do NOT own this in real life, and have some concerns, but have a decent gain in the stock, so I am willing to see where it goes.

Again, the big concern is sales, which has been pretty flat for the past 18 months. But the earnings grew about 12% during that time, so earnings are doing OK. The stock is trading near its 52 week low, so it is cheap on that basis. The profit margin has been growing, as has the earned-on-equity, so those are both good. And the company has NO debt. (One of my favorite things.) The current P/E is inline with historic norms, and the PEG is below 1, so the stock is reasonably priced. The stock has been paying a huge dividend, so it could be worth holding on that basis alone.

As long as the lack of sales does not provide too much of a headwind, then this stock could return 26% over the next year or so, maybe more. So on that basis, I am willing to hold the stock in this portfolio to see where it goes.

A world without nitrogen fertilizer producers is a world with a much smaller population. Essential product with stable demand and an excellent yield.

I'm betting on TNH on the basis of its products being increasingly important, with demand to crawl upward in fits and starts for the foreseeable future.

Natural gas might currently be unnaturally cheap, and as NG infrastructure builds out, significant new markets will come into play (passenger cars, Japan/Korea?), consquently costs for TNH may go up significantly, and profits and distributions decline.

Given the push/pull, surely someone out there has a good idea of how the demand/cost balance plays out over time.

Absent the raw data, this is my bet that secular demand trumps cost shocks.

Do to the demand of imports for grains in China, I see the US, increasing growth in the grain sectors, and will drive up the need for all fertilizers. So yes, I see Terra Nitrogen exploding!
