American Farmer is doing rather well these days- and I think will continue to do better with the premium paid for domestically grown organic type products.

I own an Ace Hardware store in southeastern Wisconsin. TSC announced a move into our market around 8 months AFTER Lowes announced it was building a 165,000 square foot store a half-mile away. Dumb move. First of all - it's not the right type of market for TSC. They can't compete with Lowes for outdoor power equipment selection. If they're anywhere near a Fleet Farm or Farm

Love the dog supplies, carhartt jeans and tools galore. I see this co. as a mix between a country store, Home Depot and PetSmart.

Tractor Supply serves a unique recreational market niche, including farmers and ranchers, tradesmen, small businesses. It operates the largest U.S. chain of retail farm and ranch stores, with more than 650 stores in 37 states as of September 2006 offering a comprehensive selection of merchandise. Pet and animal products contribute 37% of revenue, hardware and tool products including lawn power equipment, truck, trailer and towing products account for 54% and work clothing and footwear make up for the balance.

The Company's business is highly seasonal with sales and profits being highest in the second and fourth quarters of each year due to the sale of power equipment products. Its specialized product assortment is sold through an everyday low-pricing strategy for branded and private-label goods.

Tractor Supply's sales have been growing at an average rate of 18% for the past 7 quarters. Sales for nine months ended 2006 have risen by 21.4%, strongly driven by sales of pet and animal products as well as clothing and footwear products apart from contribution from 64 new stores.

The company expects sales to increase by 16-18% during 2007. It also aims to expand its geographic market presence through the opening more than 90 new retail stores during 2007. Further, it is simultaneously working to enhance financial performance through better inventory management, improving sales mix, aggressive merchandising programs and low price philosophy. All these efforts will finally help in boosting comparable-store sales during first and third slow-growth quarters.

Tractor Supply Company is a Farm & Home Store not a Home Improvement Store (Home Depot etc). It is my largest holding and if it went to 0 I would still have a profit. If anyone knows of another Farm & Home store that is publicly traded I would like to consider it.

Green Acres is the place to be, farm livin' is the life for me. From it's humble beginnings as Drucker's General Store in the rural Illinois town of Hooterville, Tractor Supply has grown to become a national chain of 600 stores in 37 states with a market cap of over $2B.

Well, maybe not the Drucker's part. TSCO is my favorite retail play. I've owned it in my real portfolio for over four years and it is a multi-bagger. For the last four years they have grown revenues at a 25% CAGR and produced earnings growth at a CAGR of 36%. They are the nation's largest specialty farm and ranch retail store chain. They cater mainly to the recreational farmer and rancher, as well as local tradesmen. They locate their stores in towns outlying major metropolitan areas and in thriving rural communities.

They differentiate themselves by having well-stocked stores with a variety of good quality namebrand merchandise supplemented with their high quality private label brands. They institute a thorough employee training program and pride themselves on customer service. They sell several catagories of products, including in order of revenue contribution: equine, pet and animal products (food, cages, fencing, medicine, etc.), seasonal items, hardware and tools, lawn and garden equipment, work clothes, truck/trailer/towing accessories, and maintenance products for agricultural use.

While they have about 600 stores currently, they have built out a network of distribution centers that can service up to
