Yes I am worried about Telus, and not so much because it is so heavily shorted, [after all it pays a good dividend and is not close to cut this dividend] .

I am less worried about those who short then about those who buy! And they might well be the same.

The last declaration from Telus
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/telus-provides-non-canadian-ownership-130000322.html
makes me understand some investments firms are playing around with Telus voting shares, in order to go against the proposition to make all shares voting shares
Telus has to watch carefully that foreigners do not hold more than 33.3 %, to comply with Canadian regulation.

When powerful manipulators come in, it is like when the bikers builds a bunker close to your home: yes I am scared.
Something not abnormal was going a few week before Telus made this announcement.
Look at the volumes, and the price discrepancies between the price of the Canadian shares (TSE:T) and the American shares TU since Feb 17th or 18th.
I am out of Telus, and will only get back in after the share holders meeting that has been postponed to April 3, 2012.
So now I am turning bearish in Telus, although the price might well keep going artificially up for a while.
Am I the only one?

Telus is a Canadian telco & cable making huge moves to take market share away from Rogers, Shaw and Bell. Just raised dividend.

> Stable and mature business, practically monopoly in western Canada

> Good profits and cash flows

> Capital expenditure and expansion comes from internal cash flow

> Stable dividend yield, good buy

I like Canadian companies over the next 2-4 years, TELUS should come out on top.

Great management, nice dividend, and a fee-free dividend reinvestment plan. I own it, and DRiP it, in real life.

Graham formula gives me a fair value of $34.18, so based on the current price of $24.10 it is trading at a 29% discount.

This is a second reload in CAPS: I closed my pick (which had a positive score) and am reopening it right away, so that future dividends will have a magnified impact due to the reduced starting price.

long-term ROE and PTP margins are up, valuation is lower than the historical averages. I'd forecast 9% EPS and 8% sales growth over the next 5 years, conservatively imo, and with the low current valuation there is room for PE expansion. Also pays a nice dividend and D/E is trending down.

And, if it turns out they suck I can always "Blame Canada, Blame Canada!"

Telus has a big potential growth with Telus TV soon to be launch at large in Canada west. telus is as well a perfect candidate for a takeover from a fund.

TU must restructure as a result of recent BCE deal, or be swallowed up by larger ,international player -- expect dividend increases, stock buybacks-- good defense in typical weak aug-oct period.
