My 7 year old son came home from school yesterday and asked for UA sneakers for his birthday. He is not a trendsetter, he is a follower. When I asked about Nike, he mentioned that UA is the new cool thing that all the boys want in elementary school. So, his grandmother got him a pair for his birthday and he wears them every chance he gets.
UA is pricey, but it will always be pricey like AMZN. They have a pile of cash, small debt, and great return on equity ratios. From a fundamentals standpoint, they are solid. When I add in my 7 year old's pulse on style, this is now a huge buying opportunity. Why? Because they are the first sports apparel manufacturer to upset Nike as the king of brands.

Along with Nike, Under Armour is the leader in sports apparel

Innovative, well run, expanding, and most importantly.. still cool among kids.

The company just keeps making improvements to its business as it designs new (and better) products for its customers. And Kevin Plank is the CEO who can sustain that business momentum.

A trusted growing brand at 1/9th of Nike's market cap.

Will catch up to Nike over time.....

Solid fundamentals and pro team exposure gives it cool factor

At the current price as of this writing, UA is 50.76$ a share and valued at approximately ~5.3 Billion $ market cap. Nike's stock is ~41 Billion. I'm not necessarily saying that UA can reach that high, but I believe it can certainly get a lot closer over the next several years. I feel it has about the same level of "cool" as Nike as well.

Huge growth
Recs
Since the company had a 2 for 1 split earlier this year, the price has room to appreciate...I think it runs into a new limit in 6 or 7 months.

Ok, so here's why I'm hanging on to this one for a lot longer--because I sold Green Mountain Coffee Roasters way too soon, because I sold Buffalo Wild Wings way too soon, and because I'm just smart enough to realize this stock is as sexy as the other two and has a lot more growth ahead of it. How's that for advice? No logical analysis of the numbers whatsoever. Just going with a hunch, plain and simple.

Great products
Recs
The valuation will catch up to it. It's has no niche... Nike beats it on the technical side I think. Lululemon will also eat it for breakfast.

They make great products, but then again two dozen other companies make similar products that perform as well, and are generally cheaper.
Entry into the athletic shoe business is not always easy. People buy asics for running, new balance, nike, etc and are loyal to brands, even down to the same shoe model. This is making it tough for underamour to gain traction in this area.
