Recs
UBS is digging itself out of the hole the previous management has put them in. In a year or two, they will be back to large profits once again. It is still one of the largest banks world wide. The risk profile has been drastically reduced and the new managemnt team under Oswald Gruebel is working hard to put the tax evasion story behind them.
Recs
Investment banks are aggresive in general, UBS was beaten badly in a bad market, should swing high in a bull market.
Recs
Financial stocks carry a P/E ratio of 22.4, and the so-called "recovery" has been especially strong in bank stocks. Therefore, I’m concentrating my shorting interest in the banking sector.

Swiss government will not have the option to let UBS fail.

Recs
They must have money hidden somewhere.
Recs
With UBS current leverage about 70 to 1, they are going to have a difficult time when upcoming loans go bad.
Recs
Very much undervalued with the banking crisis, but the bank will survive and regain some of the lost value. A great 3-5 year play here on a swiss banking giant
Recs
Its silly to knock a major company's price down because of even a serious illness. In fact, it's price is heading rapidly upward even as we speak.

Strong well managed company, felt to secondary morgages, lost but Swiss are strong and they will find a way to out.
Recs
This is a strong company and will only improve. They are backed by the government and the company will not fail.
Recs
UBS is still the third most leveraged bank of the world, so with one of the most illiquid balance sheet. The stock market prices UBS stock as if it was already bankrupt like Washington Mutual. It is also loss making.
Recs
the owner is better than the price of this one

The company continues to present an attractive investment opportunity despite recent market turmoil. On December 10, UBS announced a US$10 billion write-down in its US subprime holdings, pushing the company to a loss for the fourth quarter and possibly the full year.
At the same time, the company announced a series of steps to strengthen its capital base, including the CHF13 billion sale of convertible notes to the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation Pte. Ltd. (CHF11 billion) and an undisclosed investor in the Middle East (CHF2 billion), both counting as Tier 1 capital and raising the Tier 1 ratio to 12%. UBS eliminated its cash dividend, replacing it with a stock dividend. We are reducing our EPADS estimates to $0.10 from $3.40 for 2007 and to $4.50 from $5.20 for 2008.

One of the few that is actually holding back management bonuses. There's a possibility this stock might survive the panic 2008 crisis and probably be around after the recession.
