I think this investment will outperform the S&P500 at for the rest of 2011. Gas prices have been creeping higher in recent months. This can be a good hedge against higher prices at the pump. I wouldn't recommend it long term (5-10yrs) because gas prices fluctuate alot. However, for now: a weak dollar, demand internally and from abroad, and geopolitical tensions will ensure that gas prices continue to increase higher.

Gas goes up in the summer, more driving. Refinery's must special blend fuels.

Refiner situation: Raw crude cannot not be cracked profitably at these gasoline prices were it not for diesel and other residuals. If crude plummets to $10, refiners shut down factories, and our floor is already established. Chance favors an upward move.

Wow, an ETF that tracks gasoline prices. Nice find blade5adj, thanks!

I agree with most that this goes up long term, and is otherwise very volatile (like its namesake :-).

Long-term gas prices are not going down. Maybe some swings short-term, but I can't see my gas bills going down over time.

Gasoline and oil demand isn't lowering any time soon. With China's explosive industrial growth and USA's dependency for everyday activities, any corrections would be temporary.
This is likely to give the company the ability to increase profit, unless federal government intervenes.

uga is tied to gas prices and will/should move proportionately with the price of gas. Do you see gas going down in the foreseeable future?
