As fuel prices continue to increase, so does the economics of scale in transportation. When the infrastructure surfaces again... and it ain't yet in a great many places... then the rebuild is going to affect the bottom line TOO. Less traffic, less crops (big product and cash stream for these guys) and less profit as the equation of the coming recession fears add more to the price of everthing. OVER A LONG period I would love to be holding UNP from a low of last year to now (at which point, I assure you, I would be selling like a maniac!!! Oh, and that too is going to scare the price out of this issue, as people DO exactly that too.) But from this lofty perch of $77 we are going to see a pretty good pull back over the next four weeks maybe 8. Short for a short time, maybe three month max. They are looking to speed up their expansion plans - but have taken some hits due to the flooding in that part of the country, They carry a low debt to equity, relative to others in the market. Increasing EPS over the past 5 years. UNP seems to have stalled out, and is sitting on the border of our buy indicators. We're going to buy - the momentum on the sector appears to be strong.
