+ Watch UNTD
on My Watchlist
The Company is a leading provider of consumer Internet and media services.
7%+ dividend makes it a great stock to buy. Sells flowers online but also a relatively strong presence in social networking etc.
Netzero 4G just launched and will likely change the business mix positively. A nice dividend helps in the wait until it does. Currently at depressed prices.
A great dividend yield coupled with a diversified business model and a decent P/E ratio at a low entry price. What's not to like? Earnings aren't particularly impressive, but they're stable. Five year outlook could shrink if this stock gets valued higher and the yield gets pushed down near the 2-3% level. At that point, I would need to see higher earnings to validate holding this one.
Well managed, large dividend.
Ok, I'll bite. This has been a perennial stock on the Magic Formula screen, which is not necessarily a good thing. I hate their portfolio of low quality online businesses, of which others have pointed out. However they manage to generate some serious free cash which they've used to pay down debt along with a healthy dividend. FTD.com looks very strong. If I can just get myself to look away from their other businesses, I might just buy this in my real account.
Good valuation and dividend compared to other internet companies.
Low cost internet provider.250 Million in cash.No debt.Currently paying a 10% dividend.
Change is coming to dial-up. Someone smart will merge UNTD and Earthlink and just inherit AOL's customers by default. Classmates for all its detractors makes money.
Internet company, trying to sell an IPO, is not this the blind leading the blind, they failed to make the stock holders who purchased at there IPO rich. so now they are getting into the IPO business, the name united online, stinks sounds just like America online, makes me think of failure.
IF THIS STOCK CAN TRADE ABOVE 16.00 IT CAN GO TO 22.00 TO 25.00...IT HAS AROUND 4% DIV..
Its Reunion Time 'ol Classmates
Dial-up provider is sitting on a giant community asset in Classmates.com. These guys will be bought in the next 18 months. Potential buyers are Google and Yahoo, who can quickly integrate the community, and gain a cash generating dial-up business.
I wish there was a selection for indicating that they will likely perform about the same as the S&P because that is actually what I think. But if forced to pick either under/over perform I have to go with underperform. Dialup won't die overnight, but it slowly dieing. UNTD seems to have no broadband strategy with which to create growth.
All of their sites and products seem to be outaded.Classmates.com: Will become worthless in the new Myspace/Facebook world. Mypoints.com: Losing popularity and a site with no moat.Photosite.com is a small site that isn't worth much.Do you really want to invest in a dial-up company?
F'd Company website says it's going under. Can't wait to get that gavel!
United Online offers a variety of consumer internet services, which are subscription based as well as free of charge under the brand name NetZero, Juno and Classmates Online. It operates in two segments, Communications and Content and Media. Communications segment includes dial-up internet access, email, internet security and Voice over Internet Protocol. Content and Media includes social-networking, personal web-hosting, online marketing and online digital photo-sharing.Competitive pressures from broadband services have resulted in significant declines in subscribers to dial-up access services of the company. The number of broadband users is expected to reach 67 million by 2009 as compared to 47 million in 2005. However, the number of dial up access service users is expected to decline to 17 million from 27 million over the same period.Until recently, United Online did not have presence in providing broadband services. By tying up with Verizon to provide digital subscriber lines (DSL), a form of broadband internet connection, under NetZero DSL and Juno DSL, the company has extended the life of its existing NetZero and Juno dial up user base. In its social networking community called Classmates, the company is launching a new feature called Google Maps, which will enable the users to determine their friends or colleagues location. This initiative would convert free members into paid members.United Online is also exploring the opportunities with various parties to enter the search area business. With strong balance sheet and appetite for some acquisition into content and media segment of its business, United Outline is expected to shine among its peers.
UNTD gets all profits from its rapidly declining dialup access business. Classmates seems to show revenue growth, but I don't see how that will ever pay off, because it is over the hill compared to many newer more exciting sites, i.e. MySpace, Facebook, etc. Classmates ads continue to be everywhere, so I'm wondering how much revenue is backscratching. The dividend has been propping up the stock, but they should have saved the cash to buy something else. Revenue, profitabilty, and dividend are all at risk.
