Uranium Resources, Inc. (URRE)

For some reason, these junior uranium companies have become favorite shorts. The companies keep popping up on the Reg SHO list. I take that there's usually a bottom when the quality companies, like URRE and URZ, show up on that list as well.

Unlikely practically ever single other uranium miner around the globe, URRE has a history, albeit a short one, of profitability. Admittedly, this history is somewhat shaky and limited, but it's there.

The in situ method, which purports to be less environmentally damaging, has at a minimum a strong advantage of avoiding an open-pit mine, which is hard to Americans tolerating.

So many have summarized the basic bull case for uranium that it hardly bears repeating, but in brief -- the US does not mine nearly all of its supply of the uranium that it uses annually. The shortfall that is not imported from other large mining countries like Canada and Russia are obtained as part of nuclear weapon recycling.

Among the slow motion trends that are developing on this spot price of uranium are the reduction of this nuclear weapon recycling program and the construction of new plants around the world. These plants start coming on line about NOW and many expect the price of spot yellowcake to rise in response to anticipated, future demand.
