This met a high level screen to indicate a sell and strong underperform against its peers (other tickers in its industry). My 1st version of this spreadsheet devles deep into the company's balance sheet and recent income statements, combined with other relevant price data for the company including insider/institutional holdings, short interest, debt levels, etc.
I'm testing capabilities of this 1st version of my automated, valuation spreadsheet matched with my personal criteria and see how it holds up.

I originally caught wind of this company from Gtrinvestor. His pitch can be found here:

http://caps.fool.com/Pitch/URZ/2408682/re-re-load-but-here-is-my-orig.aspx

Since his write-up, this company's fundamentals have not improved. I'd venture to say they've actually gotten worse (now under $5M in equity and decreases in the top & bottom line). Yet, the stock has appreciated.

In times like these, I try to remember that the market is a voting machine short term, but a weighing machine long run (said by Ben Graham). This company's poor prospects will outweigh hope and momentum.

"You ought to be able to explain why you’re taking the job you’re taking, why you’re making the investment you’re making, or whatever it may be. And if it can’t stand applying pencil to paper, you’d better think it through some more. And if you can’t write an intelligent answer to those questions, don’t do it."

The ultimate pure play in uranium, URZ has rights to some of the largest uranium deposits in Wyoming. Once uranium regains its upward momentum (think a bottom very close) this stock can only go up, Up, UP!

Uranium is going to be big and they have substantial interests in uranium rich land.

With about 408,155 shares outstanding, it only has to fall to $2.45/share before its market cap is below $100M. $0.26 is all it takes...

They are in the Uranium business, but have no economically recoverable reserves, guaranteed not to fall below Zero

I wish I could get a five-person company to be worth almost $200M. Alas, I'm just too honest. The management of URZ isn't, though. Given that the company is hemorrhaging money, and will need more dilution, I'm thinking the stock should trade at a discount to book value, which is $0.42/share. Even just getting to BV would be a 90% drop, which would be a nice score from a CAPS perspective.

"Since its founding in 1999 as Carleton Ventures, the firm hasn't sold any minerals or generated any revenue."

"Uranerz says it is pursuing mining opportunities in Canada, Wyoming and Mongolia, but the firm might be stretched a bit thin; only five full-time workers are on the payroll."

Uranerz states in fresh filings that it "has not presently determined" if anything it has is "economically recoverable." !!!!!

Nuecular energy is the only short term, high volume source that can meet current growing demand. It used to be that enough Uranium was stockpiled to meet that demand. This is no longer the case! I'm buying up small blocks of all the Uranium companies I can find!
