yea, I know it is an outmoded technology, but they are doing something right. They make money! It is a magic formula stock, w/ no debt, a 21% CROIC, EV/EBITDA of 6.7. Gross margins are 65%. The only caveat is insiders are not buying, but I don't see that as a big negative.

I don't like thumbing anything down. I have few underperform calls. I find that even when I'm right, it takes years to resolve a failing industry. In this case, however, I feel the underperform is the only way to go. Pagers have already left the public consciousness. If it weren't for technophobic doctors who cling to old customs and practices, this business would have collapsed ten years ago.

Yet, those same doctors and administrators refuse to update to digital storage of patient records. Those same doctors cling to outdated and dangerous dietary recommendations. So, are they going to give up their pagers next year? No.

But as you can see from the declining revenues at USA Mobility, they lose more and more market share every year. Soon, they won't have anything left.

Their plan to 'innovate' sounds like the strategy of hope. Their note about their inability to track installation of software well enough to accurately book sales in past years says they are losing control of their sales model and cannot make accurate decisions.

Heck, their revenue numbers might be fundamentally incorrect, and they admitted it.

I cannot imagine a way out for them at this point, short of completely shifting their business model. If they could have, wouldn't they have done it by now? The writing has been on the wall for a while.

Looks like they are turning around the business. Payout ratio is just 37% and a PE of just 3.

Paging is a business the is slowing each year. The stock looks cheap, but the stock price is going to zero.

Straight-lining declining revenue over past three years indicates company is out of business in four more years. Currently at trailing P/E of 4.3, should be more like 3. 2x book value, 2.5x cash. Dividend currently higher than next year's predicted earnings.

Key question is how they handle the decline. Can pagers find a core must-have customer base, and can costs be under that core revenue by 30% or more? Otherwise USA Mobility will have to close shop or sell off. Will leadership do this in a shareholder-friendly manner, or just grab what they can and flee?

I know of a probation officer who uses these government phones. This company has a good market opportunity if they continue to provide a solid secure product.

Over the next 12 months, I expect the bear market to continue. If I could choose "cash" to outperform, I would do so. In a market like this, a stable utility with a dividend yield over 4% should outperform.

Target price of $14.25/sh by March "09. Risky - it's taken a horrible beating but I think we've about bottomed out.

Niche market although eroding. Tight focus on cost saving and returning capital to shareholders. Consistent performace despite lower consumer base. Good dividend at or near 52 week low.
