With the slowing US economy and the end to war nearing the growth prospects for UTX look gloomy for the next 2-4 years.

I do not see a any growth coming from Carrier, Chubb, Otis, P&W and Sikorsky in the near future.

Mostly a scuttlebutt call. I have a friend who works at Pratt & Whitney, which was recently bought by UTX. He's starting to look around for a new job because: a) his benefits got a lot worse this year and b) his job function will be "in-sourced" by the government in a couple of years. According to my friend, UTX doesn't understand government contracting and manages his division as if it were Otis Elevator.

Further, I suspect the government will shift from guns to butter in the very near future, so defense companies seem a bad gamble.
