As I read the financials, it is paying the dividend with borrowed money.

I'm putting my neck out on this one based on the teeth grinding payout ratio but I like the yearly 5% stock dividend and the current yield of over 10%. Even if they have to cut dividends for awhile to get thier financial house in order I see this stock maintaining some combination of the 5%/5% rule. (A stock paying a 5% dividend yield that can manage to maintain an average meager capital growth rate of 5% per annum turns $1,000 w/ dividends reinvested into $18,500 or so in 30 years.) Also this is the only Tobacco company that stands a chance to hold and increase it's market share against Altria, Lorillard and Reynolds American Inc. and I think they will. The others are all dead ducks.
